can i get my particles to react to sound db levels
and create windows media player like particle visualisations ?

A little example would be awesome Ali, lot's of people ask for this sort of thing, I've no idea how you'd do it in DBC, or DBPro for that matter (I'm guessing in DBPro you could use an .DLL to analyse the sound output, maybe).

the only thing i think db would be checking the sound level, but thats all i know of...

In DBP you could load the music file as a sound and use the make memblock from sound command. Then you'd have to plot points on a bitmap, dependant on the sound levels of the memblock, at that playing position of the sound, use Get Image and texture several ghosted plains with the image and previous images. Could you do the same with DBCe?

Edit:
Obviously you wouldn't have to use all the memblock data for speed purposes. You could use quite a low sample rate of the memblock's info. You wouldn't need to do it EVERY loop, every other loop would do dependant on framerate.


I'd knock up some code but I think it'd be horribly slow, difficult to keep in time with the music AND memblocks make my head hurt .


OFF TOPIC: Van B, do you have a link to your boned shadow code. I'm interested to see it but cannot find it in the codebase.
