I was just about to finish up my new glock 18c model until I realized I have no idea if DBC supported smoothing groups. I looked around the site for info about this but it seems that there have only been reports of DBC 'randomly' smoothing things out. I don't wanna go ahead and smooth out my model just to find out that DBC will just destroy my work.

Heres a picture:

If that doesn't show up as a clickable thumb, try this:

If that STILL doesn't work paste this into your browser:

(I dunno, but I think I saw that model on TurboSquid for free a few days ago - I downloaded it, anyway )

In 3DS Max at least, if you apply a MeshSmooth modifier and then export as a 3DS file (X file after), the data saved isn't the mesh + how to apply the modifier - the data saved is the mesh with all modifiers already applied.

So basically, if I'm right, DB doesn't even have to try to smooth stuff out - it's saved that way.

P.S. I don't know what a smoothing group is, so this could be *ENTIRELY WRONG*...

2005 - Year of cartoony red cubes (look! black outline!), for me at least.

you did NOT see that model on Turbo Squid a few days ago cause i JUST finished it yesterday and ONLY posted it here. But i guess that means my models are Turbo Squid quality eh ? I'm not sure how max's smoothing routines work, but will that increase the poly count? I don't want my model to get into the 1000's.
So does anyone know if smooting and then exporting will increase the poly count?
