There is no editor - there is a sticky in the DBPro forum though.

The advanced terrain is a plugin for DBPro that adds commands to create the terrain from specified images - you should go looking for a heightmap creator and renderer. I'm quite partial to Bryce4, which someone posted a link to recently and was distributed on some magazine coverdisks. It's free now from what I gather, companies do that a lot with 3D software when the new version is out.

Van, how did you get Bryce 4 textures to look good in AT? They always look a bit odd here - a bit too splotchy.

You gotta render the image at about 5000x5000 then cut out the colour map and resize it, I usually go for about 1024x1024, but at that res you can grab much bigger areas.

Attached an example screenie, I really like the rough look that Bryce makes. That's a 2048x2048 colour map on a 128x128 heightmap.

If you want I could make one for Mercs2 - just let me know the resolutions you need.

Looks very nice Van

You could have a go with the deserty ones - I tried to render Death Valley using Bryce 4's arizona textures, it looked awful though. If you could do better, please be my guest. Around 512 or 1024 is fine for the texture - and it can either be .bmp or .jpg.

after a few hours work i have that so far. the terrain edits itself in real time but at 7fps, so i'm going to make a function so users can select how often they want to terrain to update itself while edtting it.

I have it locked at fps of 30 (for some reason the FPS function multiplies it by 1.1 or something)

At the moment i'm working on changing the brush size, and the different brush types. after that i'm going to make a GUI to make it look pretty.

I have tonnes of features planned for it but i'll make an announcement in WIP when i;m ready, since i dont want a faster coder than me to read my plans and then code them himself before i do

Ermes, have you tried the demo yet? - there's source code included with the terrain download, you have to go hunting for it though. Alternatively you could try the terrain example I uploaded for DavidT.

I'm also kinda working on a tutorial for making a game level with a terrain, but then i got carried away and decided to make a terrain editor.

-edit: ...and also th eterrain commands atm are only temporary solutions so making a tutorial based on the current ones would be pontless
