Hi
The maximum FPS i got on a dark basic game was 500FPS.
My specifications are:
pentium 4 3.4GHz proccessor
ATI radeon X600 pro
1024 DDR RAM
19" TFT screen(might be why is slower)
5.2 THX surround sound
400GB hard drive

i just thought those settings would give a very high FPS.
my pc is an ADVENT T9202.
any help will be appreciated.

500FPS is just with a 3D line, i thought my specs were very high, and i thought that i'd get at least 1000.

Yeah, theres probably something holding back your PC... cause by all means mine shouldn't kick your ass by a whole 100 FPS.

Well, if it's anything like one of my PC's then it will probably be the memory or motherboard. Mine is a 2400+ with 9800Pro, XP Pro, 2 10k SATA Raptor drives in a RAID 0 array, and a 20.1" 1600x1200 16ms response LCD. Not exactly top whack spec, but you would expect a half decent 3DMark2001 score. Something like 15-16k stock out of the box would be my guess. But no, get about 12.5k no matter what I do with it. People with 9700Pro cards get about that out of the box. With a bit of overclocking 9500 cards beat that. The 9700 beats 20k with some major overclocking. Tried overclocking the CPU, the GPU, memory, the lot. Close down applications, everything. Nothing shifts it more that a hundred or so points. Obviously a bottleneck. Posted my specs on Futuremark, and they reckon it's the memory (only naff DDR2100 memory) mainly (although could do with better motherboard and CPU, but this is for serious overclockers, and I just want a good average score). This slows everything down and your basically stuffed. Apparently my 3DMark2003 marks were more like it as they are more GPU dependent than on the PC with CPU and memory. Off to get some 3200 memory then..... expensive month..... (monitor and video card in same month).

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

well its not a whole 100fps, its 40. it might be that you didnt have as many programs open when you tested or something.

another posibility is the refresh rates of your monitors.

Unless you have vsync on then the monitor won't effect it. If you have it on you wouldn't have any more than the monitor refresh rate. Probably 60-75 on an LCD. Obviously you don't as you get way above any monitor's refresh rate (500). We used to have this sort of comment in the old DB classic days, when someone used to say "Yes, my DB game demo gets 300fps!!!!" with a 500Mhz effort, then someone else would say "but I only get 75fps" with a 1Ghz effort. Yep, turn off the Vsync on your card (normally application controlled these days, but in those days was mainly control panel).

Cheers

I get 631 fps while running Eric T's code.
my specs
pentium 4 3.4GHz proccessor
ATI radeon X600 128 pci express
1024 DDR RAM pc3200
21" TFT screen
5.1 HD sound
250GB hard drive

pretty much the same spec's as you BiggAdd are you by chance running any backgound app's while your testing like messenger's? I tested only running a firewall and antivirus.

If you change the code so it uses text instead of print it will go much faster, over 1000fps for me.

Try using a proper 3d benchmark and compare your score to other people with a similar spec.
