I noticed that in many screen shots the text in the upper left reads LIVES xx HEALTH xx

I'm sure this is completely customizable, but I was curious why the default values weren't health & armor? What function does the "lives" value represent? (surely not lives like in an arcade game?)

Which brings me to another question - is there an armor value within the game and mathmatically how does it function? (example each point of armor reduces 1 point of damage 1:1 or maybe armor deflects 50% of the damage and the rest is deducted from the armor value, etc. etc.)

Thx for your answers!

Lives means lives in the arcade-game sense. There is no armour value.

I think you'll be able to set the lives to one and then turn off the lives display. And you can have healthpacks on it, even health "zones", which is cool (very halflife!).

Yet no armor (very unhalflife!)

In fact I can't think of an FPS that doesn't have armor in it of some kind or another (even doom, hexen, quake, etc. all)... maybe this is another feature that is coming.

I think the inclusion of lives instead is... strange.

Another wait and see I guess. sigh.

In fact, most games now don't even have lives.

If you find FPSC limiting, I suggest you start learning to code It won't be able to create everybody's dream game (that's simply impossible just with drag n drop making). To do that you'll have to code it yourself

Knights have armour. So I wont need it. Cats have nine lives so I wont need those.

Sure could use some health though.
