Just curious, any of you guys enjoy dog fighting in the planes in BF1942? I've been thinking about flight sims recently and I personally found BF1942 the most enjoyable plane experience. It's all down to the low level flying, machine gun attacks on running soldiers, dog fighting etc.

I'm gonna have a bash at putting one together, so am starting to make my first map. Any things you didn't like about BF1942 planes, or particularly liked, or would like to have seen included, let me know!

love it, and love doing the loop trick in the jets (Desert Combat) to confuse enemies. You put upwards sharply, get out, fall downwards and get back in the plane when it comes back under. Really hard to perfect

I've always had a soft spot for flying in Battlefield, it is pretty tricky to dogfight, but the controls and feel are great fun. If you can model an aircraft carrier then that'd be cool, like each side of the islands you'd have a carrier, then they'd battle with their planes, sorta like team combat.

I liked the planes in Battlefield Vietnam too, dropping napalm is great fun, and the jet's are real easy to fly.

Yeah, the Huey - I like carrying boats and jeeps around with troops inside, like a mobile death conker. Some of the heli skills on the hardcore online players are insane, strafe flips aplenty .

I like the ATV best in Battlefield, running over land then right into and across water quickly is ideal, the boats are fairly boring unless you have a couple of passengers to man the guns.

Operation flashpoint 2 will be emmense.

Yeah, thanks for the feedback though guys. I do want to keep this WW2 and want to achieve a level of authenticity even if the game itself won't be that realistic (you can't claim that flying 10 metres above land in BF1942 is realistic, but it's good fun).

I agree aircraft carriers should definitely be in. I also like the idea of bottleneck bridges. I'm going to have people to gun down, not just vehicles, but they'll be super low poly as there won't be any on-ground action. I really want straffing runs though.

Still gonna have to think about AI and enemy planes, but for now I'm just working on making a big test map that I can start building an engine around. Hopefully I'll stick at this one.

@Uberwiggett cheers for the offer of help. I'll be sure to call on ya when I have a clue what I need.
