Hey everyone, I was wondering, I got darkbasic and it was really easy to use for me cause BASIC was the first language that I learned...but my brother just wanted to jump into java for some reason. So I was taking a look at the 3d game maker, is it worth it to buy, or is a dumb program?

I can't really recommend it.
I had problems getting it to work with my blood-shed dev. c++ compiler. I couldn't get the compiler to make *.cs files. The torque engine gives alot of crap, when you try to get it to load and run a *.c++ file and not a *.cs. It even crashes at times. It's abit easier at times than DBE. But not worth the money.
Also note, that he'd better be happy shelling out around another $100 to register the programs.
(I tried to use the torque engine with my favorite compiler, and not have to pay to use the one included, didn't work.)
If he just wants to know about 3d game theory and making models, it's a great reference.

the 3ds game creator is not bad, because you cannot really edit your game like you want. Yes you can edit the object position and do somme other AI on the ennemi. but me I feel more good at Dark Basic but really, it's not bad at all.

Yes the 3d game maker is really just for making FPS but the FPS Creator is ALOT better. Dumb move there .

I've got a version of it.

Problem is, the rather low customizabiltiy of it, i.e., choose a level, choose a character, choose some enemies, click play.

I brought it, used it, almost trashed it but realized....I needed a coffee and donut holder.
The 3D game maker does the job it says it will do; make a 3D game.
You cant customize anything but the models. Levels are set, all characters shoot bullets and thats the only way to defeat an enemy, so no Crash bandicoot style gameplay.
Buy this for a kid, or use it to dazzle people with the games you make (as long as they havent EVER played a good videogame in their life).
But since youve got it already, I cant sell my copy to you which is in near mint condition. But if you happen to come by another sucker--I mean someone who wants to use T3DGM, I got a copy waiting, begging to be picked up.

Cheerio!
