Hi folks, I just had to share this screen shot with you all. All I have done here is used a static entity to create a sort of end of level battle arena. It only took 10 minutes to create. Then I dropped in a light, changed the sky map and grabbed a shot. I wish I had more time to play - I have to focus on manual and bug reporting!

Cool - I think the skel's are my favourite enemy, they just look so annoyed when running at you.

I hate it when people post something stupid like, "That really rocks!" but I have to say, that really rocks! Great job!

Basically dark.

It would be neat if the Skeletons had the shotguns and you had a club....

But yes, it's impressive. A tad too red, but I understand that's the feeling your trying for.

i think it would be cool to see a "best possible" screenshot. With very large textures , high poly enemies , full lightmapping , shaders usw. i want to see what fpsc can do really

yeah...thats the ticket !

Rick... those shots look really good... really good considering the fact that it is all done in a relatively straight forward point and click manner, in a matter of a few minutes...

and it does show that the program is capable of making a quality atmospheric scene...

just one thing, or lack of this thing, that stands out...

the fires... there no glow or lighting from the fires affecting the landscape or rocks in the immediate areas of the flames...

i noticed this in another screeny also... but i heard a mention of glow areas... or something like that...

if you can... can you comment on this...

thx

Well could you just place a light inside the effect so it looks like the lightmap comes from the fire(Just make a small light radius around the effect) Wouldnt that be possible?

Yes you would use lights to create a glow effect. I am no artist and have no idea about colouring etc, so I'm amazed I can do these things

Using dynamic lights you could also create a light that flickers. Making it look like the fire is generating this effect. I'll see if Lee is up to making me a specific AI routine to control the light effect (best if I ask him when he's done fixing bugs).

OK, here's a screenie from a sample game that will ship with EA. Lee is making this game.

correct! sort of. Rick has only put one light in the scene. To make it look a little bit better, maybe some small orange lights placed in the fires would create a nicer glow.
edit: rick is too quick off the mark for me! I've seen that level running and it looks great!

And one more. I know they are a bit dark, it's a sci-fi game and the lighting is used to good effect.

RickV,

You mentioned Dymanic Lights above. Do you mean they may now be included - perhaps even later. I thought they were not possible at the moment at least?

Thanks

Nice shots which show the potential use of lighting.

uman, I think you were thinking about dynamic shadows which are not planned for the EA.

No - I actually thought that I had asked and was told that Dynamic Lights are not possible. Not long ago. The posts here somewhere.

This from DavidT "Lights that change aren't possible"

I also ask about Dynamic RGB lights.
And was told by DavidT NO.
But.It seems we can from the post above.
From RickV

Thats good news.
I think a lot of the features. are still being found by the beta testers. So they may not have a 100% correct answer.
We may all be in for a pleasant surprise.
Best Regards
