Alright, I'm a little skuppered trying to get Doom3 to install.
Unfortunately I'm missing one key ingredient to make it work in Windows 2003, and that is the Registry information.

Could someone save thier registry info (obviously deleting thier CD-Key) and post it in the Code or upload it for me please.
I really want to play Doom3 and just can't because the installer refuses to Install to this Windows.

even tried the over-ride and it still doesn't want to work.

lol it uses the Windows NT 5.2 Kernel, i just need the registry information so that i can patch in the directory, cd-key, info, etc..

for some reason you can't use Doom3 without the Registry info.
no one I speak to seems to have Doom3 anymore either though.. needless to say it is frustrating wanting to play it.

Have you tried Google. I found loads of answers on how to bodge the install file so it installs on Win2003:

Both suggest burning to disk, and I've done this manually before on Windows Millennium Edition.

All it require is for you to copy whats in the Data Folders to Hard Disk and then run a Registry file that has been dumped.
Simply replacing the necessary data...

Seriously doesn't anyone have the game to just take 2minutes to dump and upload the file, minus the copyright (CD-Key) data?

Eum, Raven.. you can manually install Doom3.
I had trouble installating it with the installer. I also noticed that no registry keys are created during Doom3 installation...

1) Create a destination folder (for example, c:\program files\doom 3)
2) Insert CD 1.
3) Copy Doom3.exe from CD 1 (Setup\Data\Doom3.exe) to your destination folder.
4) Create a "base" directory in your destination folder (for example, c:\program files\doom 3\base).
5) Copy pak002.pk4 from CD 1 (SetupData\base\pak002.pk4) to the "base" folder.
6) Copy game00.pk4 from CD 1 (SetupData\base\game00.pk4) to the "base" folder.
7) Insert CD 2.
8) Copy pak000.pk4 from CD 2 (SetupData\base\pak000.pk4) to the "base" folder.
9) Copy pak001.pk4 from CD 2 (SetupData\base\pak001.pk4) to the "base" folder.
10) Insert CD 3.
11) Copy pak003.pk4 from CD 2 (SetupData\base\pak003.pk4) to the "base" folder.
12) Copy pak004.pk4 from CD 2 (SetupData\base\pak004.pk4) to the "base" folder.
13) Go to the base folder and create a text file called "doomkey". NOTE: This file should not have any file extension.
14) Open the doomkey file in notepad.
15) Enter your CD Key exactly as it appears on the CD Key sticker. Use all capital letters and do not include any dashes.
16) Save that file.
17) Doom 3 should now be installed on your computer.

lol, actually no
I had the same trouble as Raven, installing on Server 2003 when I used to use it as my workstation operating system, for evaluation purposes mainly.
Thats a good point actually, why are you trying to install doom3 on server 2003 anyway?

Doom3 does'nt need to install.

How do I know that?

'cos I ran it over an network, like stored on my bro's PC, and I was able to play it from his hard disk - then I copied it over and it asked for a CD Key, then I gave it mine. I wasn't trying to nab it or anything, it simply would not install on my machine, the direct copy worked a treat.

If you have it installed on a networked PC, or even if not you could install it on an XP machine, then just copy it over like what I did.

Limited Hard Disk Space. Need to get myself some more Hard Disks soon, even filled my last 250GB within 2 weeks. Ridiculous how large source code and animations get.

There is a bunch of Registry Information that needs to be added, because I've tried to run it several times from my Windows XP original installation and each time it boots up, gets to the start 'Loading Game' screen and then just closes.
Got the installer sorted last nite, used the Installsheild X JIT to run in emulation mode, was an annoying work around.

What dumbass thought up setting OS limitations I don't know.
Windows 2003 is currently my main OS on this machine, but I also have 2005 Whidbey on here too. Considering that only runs .NET applications right now, wasn't going to even bother trying it on that.

Which Champion of [Insert Sport Here], uses Windows 2000 Professional?

My other system was running 2000 Professional, but I could never get it to keep settings when rebooting. Like the DHCP / ALG / Theme Services would have to be manually turned on each time I wanted them even if I set them to manual and turned them on.

Same with the Graphics Driver, had to install it each time I rebooted. I installed Windows XP or rather upgraded to it, and some of the problems stopped, but the Services one continues to be a problem. Currently my solution is never reboot/turn off the machine, but that's only going to last so long. heh

What I need to do is sort out my Windows XP 2005 Refresh CD, get that on all of my machines. Windows 2003 is getting on my nerves preventing alot of .NET 2.0 Development, and Windows XP on all of the machines need an overhaul.

Virus / Trojan / Spyware / Adware / etc.. Free for almost a year since I installed it on all of the computers here. It took my brother 1 day back from Uni, and we had over 4,100 on just one machine that all seemed to spread like wildfire.

It's annoying really, I mean I didn't install Anti-Virus Software, Firewall Software, AntiSpyware Software, becuase when most of the machines are 200-500MHz w/128MB each; you don't really want alot of services or such that'll slow the systems down stupidly. I was thinking we'd of had more before now, because obviously each weekend during the weekly checkup (defrag/scandisk/etc..) would check for all of the above. Make sure the systems were alright. Just can't believe one person could've been so careless in just on sodding session on the computer.

Doesn't sound like a registry problem Raven. I mean, I've managed to install it manually without adding any entrys to the registry, same with VanB.
Can't you just dual boot with XP?

Well anyways it's working now. Got the installer to work through some creative thinking, heh

Yep, I've got Fedora, Server 2003, XP and longhorn all bootable from this machine

Anyways, good to hear it's working

Why?
Another question is how actually.. I installed Windows 2003 Enterprise on this system, and despite being on a totally seperate partition still uses all of the directories on the C: Drive (which had XP on it). It was a little more than surprising to have XP just suddenly disappear on me. It also rewrote the NTLDR and base folders meaning each time I boot XP it claims I'm using the wrong version. Again frustating. Whidbey installed perfectly though, even had a sodding option to install Windows XP, or select a current installation.

Kinda gets me why the hell I can't just install each of these in seperate directories like I could with Windows 2000 / XP and they'd run just fine using the same programs you've installed (after adding the reg data and icons)

Answer to the first question - I like to test out certain mutliple server features in server2003 - and it's fun to have a play in linux now and again.
Answer to the second is that Server 2003 Standard edition has done nothing to any of my other partitions.
