It's not just bad spelling that's the problem. Grammar, (mis)use of punctuation, etc.

Then again, that's probably because the poster's a kid.

Yes because forgetting to capitalize a letter is so gonna make a sentence unreadable. If you can't understand the following sentence:

Quote: "this is a sentence"

Then you are on the wrong forum. I thought programmers could understand 'cryptic' stuff like that

Being as many people are from many different places on this forum, English may not be the first language of some users. I can understand spelling mistakes from that standpoint, but if you live in the U.S,England,etc. there's no excuse for spelling everyday words wrong. I personally check my posts, and sometimes paste them into Microsoft Word.

Spelling things incorrect and being sloppy will reflect on you. That may just be me though(And the other 40% of the forum ).

Arrghh, and I though I was such a good speller.

I don't mind when people misspell an occasional word or two in a post (usually due to typing too fast). It's when nearly every common word that you SHOULD know very well how to spell is misspelled that it starts to get annoying. I totally agree with DavidT and MikeS

That is true, but that's why it is always good to proofread, especially if you are making a serious post. I can understand if it's just a chitchat sort of thread, but seeing misspellings in serious discussions is sort of humiliating.

That website can make anyone feel completely retarded . Should have paid attention in 8th grade, but then again our teacher was teaching us how to write our letters right since she thought our hand writing was so "sloppy"...

When I see posts that have bad grammer and spelling, it makes me think they are younger then they really are or that they aren't very intelligent. This may not be true, but you get the impression when you read it. I try to keep my posts somewhat clean, though I mispell plenty and "(mis)use" grammer all the time.

Alot is a recent contraction, and one I really don't like, but alright's been around for a good deal longer and it's arguable whether it's a proper word or not.

I got 20 words wrong, and yes, I feel completely stupid

By the way, 'teh' is not a mistake, it's a long-standing DB community joke.

teh logd

is a running gag. It is an intentional mispelling. Don't feel bad though, it was brought up last time I posted about teh logd

It's a reference to "teh codez!"

I understand the point in spelling 'the' as 'teh' to try and take a jab at newbies, however, I still think it's completely dumb. In fact, everytime I see the word 'teh', my respect for the person who said it always goes down. That probably sounds a bit harsh, but it's true, I can't stand people who spell it like that.

In my opinion, 'teh' ranks down there with 'l33t', 'kewl', 'n00b', and worst of all, 'pwn'. Not funny, just stupid.

Well, in my opinion 'teh' is a reminder of the most prominent mispelling in internet history It's in the same group as the sarcastic overuse of exclamation marks ("...!!!111!") 'n00b' isn't a misspelling, nor is 'l33t' or 'kewl'. So in part, Exeat, I agree with you ; people who use kewl should have a spike driven through their grundel.

There's no comma after me.
The 1st period should be a comma.
So should be lowercase.
Me should be I.
English is capitalized.

lol

i can surely understand misspelled words from time to time. but when people misspell words like "what," "much," "please," and "with," i really wonder if they're TRYING not to spell correctly. i mean, really, these are words you see every day and use in probably half your sentences! they're not exactly high-level vocabulary!

but what pisses me off the most is the inability to figure out when to use "to, too, or two" or "there, their, or they're." here's an easy-to-use guide, everyone!

TO, TOO, AND TWO:

1) are you showing some kind of direction, whether it be movement or some other action? USE TO
2) are you saying "as well" or "also" or possibly an excess of something? USE TOO
3) is there more than one but less than three? USE TWO

THERE, THEIR, AND THEY'RE

1) is it a place? USE THERE
2) is it someone else's? USE THEIR
3) are you talking about someone else being something? USE THEY'RE, BECAUSE IT'S A (*#%ING CONTRACTION FOR "THEY ARE"

hope that clears up some confusion that should have been cleared up when you were in second grade

"when it's done" means "we have no idea, we forgot to do that; we were hoping you would all forget we promised <insert exotic promise here>"

Yeah but the point is we are from an english speaking country. Just not a proper english speaking region of an english speaking country. We have been brought up and make up our own vocabulary. By our accent we leave out many letters of words so in turn we leave them out when spelling. The english language is crazy anyway. Just look at the spelling of "ough" it has 2 different sounds in the spellings through and rough. Now what kind of sense does that make? It should be thru or ruff

I dont' have any problem with foreign people misspelling their words and not getting their sentences perfect. I say it's good that they know enough English to communicate with us here.

what bothrs me is ppl who hve to tpye an entir e post liek this and not bothr to ever capitlise a singel lettr or punctuacion mark in they're entire post k guyz u c what i mean n then they expct us to no what there problm is n wat we can do to help them.

That took a long time for me to type like that.

It's just like the word 'poin', it was an inside joke to everyone in the forum but it was just as stupid and got old very, very fast. Actually, Mouse would be able to relate with me, he did indeed make this post on the topic:
