Finally, they are changing the space suit Check this out:

Future space explorers may apply a “spray-on” second skin, an organic, biodegradable layer offering protection in extremely dusty planetary environments. Incorporated into the second skin will be electrically actuated artificial muscle fibers to enhance human strength and stamina. Artwork: Cam Brensiger.

it's cool... but you gotta understand a few things when comparing the 'old bulky' suit and this new, sleeker looking environment suit...

the old suit was designed for a zero atmosphere environment, like that you would find on earth's moon... or in orbital eva work...

... the new suit seemed destined for Martian exploration where there exists a substantial atmosphere.

it's no surprise this looks sleeker than the old heavy duty 'space suit'...

it looks cool... definitely, but i wouldn't try wearing it on an eva outside the international space station.

What is the point of making it light weight, does it really matter in space? NO, stupid rocket scientists, they never get anything right maybe for mars it will work.

Guns arn't the problem, people are the problem, shoot all the people and guns arn't a problem anymore.

So you would rather work on mars in a heavy bulky suit instead of a spray on suit?

extreme exploration: Exploring uncharted areas whilst on the back of a speeding mac truck set to explode in three minutes, disarming it would require some funky dexterity aswell as physical strength to over come the rabid monkeys with knives trying to stop you. Thats extreme.
