Ok so im thinking of getting new video card as my 5200 sucks (i mean literally sucks) and i was thinking of upgrading to the ASUS version of the 6200 pci-e. My first question is if its worth it for 139.99 canadian. MY second question is what is PCI-E? I have agp card so will this one even work on my computer. My third question is does anyone else out there have the ASUS version of the 6200 and are they happy with it?

PCI-E means PCI-Express, it's a new, better slot that many of the new video cards are being made for (because they have a larger bandwidth). If you wanna get it, you'll need to get a motherboard with an appropriate slot, and you'll need to have a PSU that has enough juice in it to power the video card (which sucks up 350 Watts on its own (like all of the new age cards )) and the rest of your computer at the same time.

I have heard of PCI-Express to AGP convertors though, but they limit the bandwidth from 16x to 8x, which basically halves the power of the card right there

But hey, if you don't want to change your motherboard, there are AGP versions of certain new line cards out there. There's even one of the card you want too (just remember to get a better PSU if needed):

But according to the reviews I've seen for this card, many people are pleased with it, and it has been given the best budget card award by a few sites. It can run Doom 3 at max settings at 1024x768 No FSAA at 20 FPS too, so thats gotta be saying something.

But I doubt many people here have the 6200. If they're going to upgrade their cards to the new line stuff, they'll probably want the 6800 or better cards. I'm pretty much hooked on the 6600 GT though, it seems the best deal for its price IMHO.

K so are you telling me it's a good card but I need to remodel my entire harddrive?
DARN
Is this card with the cord better than the spphire 9550 or should i just go forget good and get one of those? (LOL) I am kind of confused about difference between PCI-E and AGP but oh well. By the way how much does a good motherboard with PCI-E connection go for or how expensive is the cord thing-a-ma-bob?

Me thinks you shouldn't touch the insides of your computer if you can't tell the difference between the hard drive and the motherboard

There are AGP versions of some of the new NVIDIA line too, such as the 6800 and the 6600 GT, but like I said before, those things suck up a lot of juice from your PSU, so if it's not 450 Watt already, I suggest upgrading that too.

sorry a spelling error god i was taking computers apart when i was 5! And nobody answered the question about how costly a new motherboard should be! Sorry thinking of new hard drive which is probably why i spelt it there! I also would like to know a)where this "alledged" cord is or b)where i can find a 6200 which is AGP instead of PCI-E
@saberdude= The Gforce 6200 is cheaper at this place than the 9880 so go figure (The gforce is asus which is cheaper!).
@all: what i wan't is a video card that will play the BF2 (battlefield 2) when it comes out within a month!

First, what cord are you talking about? There is no cord that is used with the video card except for a cord from the PSU should the thing need it's own line.

Or are you referring to the PCI to AGP convertor? I've only heard about em really, do a google search for em.

Second, have you ever thought about shopping around on the internet to find the AGP 6200? Such as through google? That wonderful tool that helps millions of people? Newegg has 6200's for AGP even, and that would even come up in a google search should you search for the NVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP (though I'm too tired to actually confirm this, but I'm sure it'd be there). You'll have to find a place that will ship to Canada though, Newegg doesn't ship there.

DARN IT ALL, and yes i was talking about the converter! Even with it the 6200 is much better than my 5200!!!!! (Mutters about his stupid gainward 5200) I might as well get new motherboard! (how much are these by the way?)
