DUMBO & COOL - ALPHA 1V62

URL: http://www.drewsgames.com/1V62.zip
SIZE: 5.2mb
(copy and paste URL)

Updated version: Enemies, keyboard 2 player, bigger level, some graphical stuff.
Known issues: No backwards movement, extreme slowdown in some areas (object hiding not implemented), level not completed, enemies not working in 2 player mode yet.

WHATS NEW
This is basically the original game migrated to DBPRO ... not all of the sounds and graphics have made the journey yet though. The game does show off 2 player split screen, moving platforms, sun haze and a new normalized matrix routine as well as basic enemies. The game is very graphically intesive, and the code has yet to be optimized fully.

CONTROLS

generic;
1: Single player mode
2: Two player mode

single player;
ARROW KEYS: Move character
SPACE: Jump
CTRL: Switch character
RETURN: Toggle ability
MOUSE CLICK & MOVE: First person view

two player
ARROW KEYS: Move Cool
WASD: Move Dumbo
SPACE: Jump as Cool
LEFT SHIFT: Jump as Dumbo
LEFT CTRL: Toggle Dumbo ability
RIGHT CTRL: Toggle Cool ability

KNOWN ISSUES

Fogging of water plain messed up
Waterfall spray is sh*t
No backwards movement yet!
Blue edges around matrix
Lack of 2D
Few sounds

Any comments greatly appreciated.

I'll look into it - but in all honesty, I doubt your system will handle the game if it is as old as I imagine.

Check back for the next update

Saberdude: hope to hear some feedback in a months time then
I'll look into the 32 bit thing, but it's kind of a catch 22... the game will only work in 32 bit, but to activate 32 bit and make it work you need 64 bit...

Hey Drew, love the split screen. My only comment is that Cool should be able to use W,A,S,D to move, or at least have the option to toggle the controls.

All the collision with objects went well, and it ran at 60FPS. Awesome job so far, and I'm excited and ready for another release.

Very nice, no doubt about it! it was great to have the shadow, that really does help. Both characters behave well, and now i just look foreward to the back key.
Nice one Drew

Wow! Characters animation is great! Have you been inspired by the old game "Head over Heels" for the two characters idea?
I agree with the others: there is the need of a backward movement key.
Keep up the good work!

Looking good I love the sparkle on the coins, I couldn't try out split screen though as there seemed to be a thing with the controller always seeming to be pushing to the left. When I first started coding gamepad controls into me games I got this as well, was told it was a common problem with analoguie controllers and was given a fix for it... I shall give thee what I made from the help I was given if thee like

Great game, simple but so addictively fun. Now if only I could stop me joypad from juttering all over the place, but that is my fault rather than yours.

I'm joining the I want backwards moving party, but otherwise I can't really fault you, I'm going to go download the original.
