Every time I use "Thread Subject Search" I encounter the following VERY irritating problem:

1. I enter a search string.
2. I get a list of relevant threads (so far so good).
3. I view a posting (again, everything OK).
4. Click browser back button and the list of relevant threads has gone and is replaced with something like "the page cannot be displayed, etc".
5. Click "Refresh" and get the DBPro Forum message:
Quote: "... watch the PowderPuff girls or something ..."

6. Give up and click browser back button again and re-enter search string again.
7. But by the time the list reappears I've forgotten which threads I've already looked at!

Surely there's a more efficient way of doing this? Google manages to do it ......

no, for some reason its been like this for a while. You used to be able to just go back and refresh, but something has changed it and you cannot do this anymore

Part of solving the problem is actually noticing that the problem is there in the first place

Right click on the link and select 'open in new window'. Then close the window when you're done with it to go back to the search results.

@Ric

Thanks, that works nicely - but why should we have to do the extra step? It's not much to do - but it ain't obvious we need to do it!

P.S. Where is Cyberspace and why don't Cyberpeople need to sleep?

It works that way because Rich sends the sserach form data as POST, rather than GET. This means that the data only lasts one view, and when you return you have to hit refresh to get it to resends the data.

With GET the data is encoded into the URL and so is persistent.

Sorry JessTicular. Forgot it wasn't a specific DBPro issue. Will try harder next time ...

But thank you all for your explanations anyway.
