Hi, just to let you know that Lee has managed to squeeze in a performance profiler into FPSC. When a game is in TEST mode you simply press TAB and up pops an overlay that shows stats on the live game.

In the attached screen shot the line graph shows the memory usage as the game is loaded. The numbers represent different sections (eg light mapping, portals etc). The red lines show the polygon count every .x seconds, the cyan lines show the collision time every .x seconds.

It's a great tool for level optimisation.

Lee is now looking at AI. The plan is to add a flag that allows you to set if a character has 100% thinking time or if the character uses time splice thinking. This way you can craft how your enemies think and have total control.

Yes, the profiler is indeed a useful tool for FPSC. Its a shame u guys dont get to see all the improvements that are made from Beta to Beta. Its amazing what actually manages to get done. the performance increases all the time, and the extra little features that get added always come when you are just about to suggest them to Lee. I think hes a mind reader!

It is a shame. Maybe you guys (beta tester) or Rick or Rich could post a small message each time some of those cool extra features are added (like this one!). We love to hear about this stuff!!!

I admit it it - I'm a Lee development diary junky

Thanks for the update guys! Cool stuff!

well, its pretty much covered in Lees diary, its just great to experience it from our side. Its wierd that when I first got the Beta, it did "what I expected" and SO many things have been improved since then, I take them for granted.
edit: plus, I think there wont be too many "extras" added before the EA release. Its mainly polishing.
