It stands for massively multiplayer online role playing game. All MMORPG's should have a persistent world. So a game like America's Army has thousands of players, but it isn't considered a MMORPG because it doesn't have a persistent world.

games like everquest, world of warcraft series, star wars galaxies, are mmorpg's

Video games…they can take you places unreachable, impossible, unfeasible. They put you in the book...they put you in the movie...they put you in a world, a world that before could only be imagined.
