Just curious about any documentation.

Do we have Windows help files, pdf's, html files, etc?

Is there a mini command reference for scripting?
Is there a guide on creating fx files?
Is there a guide to importing media?

It seems that we will have some tutorials about different things,
just curious as we all prefer different ways to learning.

Thanks
dave

Yes, a nicely packed fully searchable text file

j/k

Last time I read it it was MS Word. No guide for creating FX files.

if i were tgc , i would send you a printed one with the release of v1.
also i would implement a "mini reference for scripting"
and of course for the EA version....some kind of digital documentation. doc or pdf...
but i dont expect FPSC will be that complicated you really "need" a manual.
i love plug and play <--- reads-never-the-manual-kind-of-person ^^

yeah...thats the ticket !

I think it would be nice to have a mini reference manual for AI scripting...

I'm sure you will get some sort of a printed manual with V1 or at least a hotkey reference/quickstart paper.
The Ea version has digital documentation, and its of very high quality. I wouldnt want to use FPSC if it were so easy that you didnt have to read up a little on the controls. And its not. phew.

I did a quick search and couldn't find it, but I recall Richard or someone saying that there would be a shipping fee to upgrade from EA to V1, and that the major reason for the shipping charge was to pay for the shipping weight of the manual.

Basically dark.

The EA manual (which I finished editing today, so this is fresh in my mind) is a PDF file. It currently runs to 89 pages. PDFs are fully searchable and printer friendly, regardless of platform.

There is a complete command reference for scripting.

There is no guide to creating shaders, that is a subject for a book (of which there are many books already written). It's also incredibly complex, well beyond the average developer, sorry. Independant research required for this.

There is a guide on importing media, creating your own weapons, importing 3D objects, modifying existing script files, creating prefabs and creating segments.

Cheers,

Rich

yup. I'm printing it out too. It would be useful to have a guide to the scriping lang because I have no Idea how hard it is or how to do any thing with it. From what I've been hearing, It is very hard to script stuff. But I am up to a challenge... a bit...

If you take the pdf to your local office depot, kinko's etc... you should be able to get it printed on Laser. It will cost you though.

Do you know how much it costs? I don't want to use up my ink.

I can't remember exactly how much it was. It might be .25 a sheet which would make it expensive to print. I'm buying a toner cartridge for my printer on Friday to print it out. That runs $27 but then I'll have Toner left over which I can continue to use until it's out. If you have a family member who works at an office, check with them to see if they can print it for you.
