Could you PLEASE convert the headers for the Dark Game SDK from C++ to Delphi.

There are tremendous benefits for your company if you did.

* You will broaden your client base with the millions and millions of Delphi coders that there are around the world.

* In the C++ scene you are one among many graphic engines that compete for space and buzz, but in the Delphi scene you'd be the Big Fish since there aren't any decent commercial-quality graphics engines out there that can be used.

* You'd get tremendous buzz in the Delphi scene that would spill over into the other scenes since most good delphi coders are also good C++ coders. You'd get lots of press, and Borland would probably help you propagate the engine since they want a very broad userbase.

Ha, I could even give you a good offer to DO it for you, if you did it. All it takes is to convert the header (.h) files to Delphi format and little else.

Pleaaaase?

And the code examples.

Pretty nice idea though, I'd rather use Delphi than C++, that's for sure.

You're a wise man, VanB.

Anyway, doesn't the current Dark Game SDK use MS compatible static libraries (.LIB)? If so, they won't work with Delphi anyway; we'd need to use DLLs.

@Empty

But it wouldn't be too problematic to convert it into DLLs, would it? I mean, there might even be one or two c++ coders that want a dll rather than a static library anyway.

Contact us about this by email. There is no chance of it happening in-house, no-one here uses Delphi at all. But if it can happen another way we may be interested.

Will do. Expect an email at latest on the 10th of February. I will draft a sort of proposal for it.

Vb.Net, C#, etc.?

(C# and Vb.Net are about as compatible as you get, so you do one, and you get two languages, maybe even four!)

Well, I've sent the proposal to Rich now - so unless they scream and run when they read it...

I'd very strongly consider getting it if they convert it to Delphi. While C++ is a good language for game developers to know Delphi is a heck of a lot easier than C++ and a large percentage of DB users are beginner programmers so Delphi would probably be an easier place to start rather than C++. Also, Delphi is used in the "real world" quite a bit so they'd actually have a language they could use for simple apps and games and then possibly get a job using it later in life.
