Nah, AIM is for people who have to use it to chat with their friends because their freinds are too dumb to get something better, such as MSN.

think of it this way...

AIM is the newb, he think's he's so great and smart, but always asks "gimme teh codez!" annoys the hell out of you, and rarely does anything.

YIM is the programmer girl that everyone likes and wants to "get to know", or wants to her to "show teh boobiez", but she's really just a sad fat man who programs in pascal.

ICQ is the cool chinese guy who you can't communicate at all with, can't design to save his life, but he knows how to program a functional app.

MSN is the oldbie who isn't a complete fatass taking up all your room, he knows how to program an app that's useful, that does backflips around the competion, knows how to make it functional and knows how to make it look darn sexy to boot.

its not working for me either. Typical Microsoft

and, I prefer Yahoo over MSN, but since most of my contacts (90-ish) are on MSN I'm forced to go there.

Personally I liked ICQ even more because of the file sending and file sharing stuff with resume-support, and it is quality software with powerful features..

well I'm still waiting for that damned MSN to work *sigh*

People, People

Here is the real truth - There is a virus going around MSN disabling you to login to MSN. There are sometimes when you can login though

I think what is more likely is that the Beta bugs have been fixed and they are upgrading the server to support the new application. Then everyone with MSN will have to upgrade to 7.1

I can't sign in with Windows Messenger either so the version wont make a difference, but the errors when you send over 50 pictures messages such as pictures not coming up and hidden smilies may be server related.

I think I have to agree with Neofish there. There weren't originally that many bugs(considering other microsoft software ), so it is quite likley that they are now all fixed(all the known ones).

[edit]
Wow!! thats a lot of posts in a short space of time!! I was referring to Neofish's post about 6 up.

Part of solving the problem is actually noticing that the problem is there in the first place

Dunno if this happened to anyone else. But, yesterday, a friend of mine tried to send me a file, and it simply did not appear on my screen. Tried it various times, even rar'ed it. We both reconnected, and no luck. Twas as if nothing happened, he had a screeny to prove it even (that he sent it). Ended up having to gmail it.
Dunno, might just be a Messenger7 bug...

I've reverted back to 6.2 version of MSN Messenger, 7.0 seems to spend more time re-connecting than being online.

7.0 works fine with me....until I have about 100 pictures in one window

Also my router tends to cut me off and reconnect me whenever someone else does

I decided to not even try 7.0 . Afterall, 6.2 is functional enough for me.

I've got a weird problem with 7. It doesn't send me messages people send instantly (sometimes) instead it stores them then sends them all at once, a lot of people have been thinking i'm ignoring them.
