I know theres been talk about community projects using our most famous members, but I think I got it...

How about an RTS, each unit being famous members of our beloved community? I haven't really developed on the idea a whole lot but I think a community project based off of phaelex's RTS tutorial would be sweet. Anyone interested?

Good idea, but I have a suggestian, there should be a Major Payne unit, that has extra weapons and invincibility.

Guns arn't the problem, people are the problem, shoot all the people and guns arn't a problem anymore.

Hmm, I don't get how it would work. You mean each forum member would be a unit? As in, you could 'build' multiple units of them? Sounds sort of odd. Or do you mean it'd be a RTS with generic units such as 'Newbie' and 'Veteran' but the forum members would be 'Hero' characters like in Warcraft III?

Hey I have been registered over a whole year now and active for the last month. What does that make me? Put me down for a tree chopping, gold digging, mining who knows what ore, peasent.

Exeat - Kinda. Obviously we can't have EVERYONE. In fact, we wont be able to have most people. The whole Hero idea I think should be the really big ones (Flinstones, Rich, Me , etc.) and then each group (I dont know how thats gonna work yet) will have different units off of other well known members.

Obviously I'm gonnna need some help with expanding on the storyline so that it works. Wheres a pirate when you need him...

Thanks for the support you guys, if anyone is interested just give me and email or MSN, you dont have to be fully part of the team. A model or idea is greatly appreciated

But there is a problem. The n00bs are attacking the boundry of the outer Mod City-Moderator Only Forum. New n00bs assualt this paradise, and the mods soon find that the Great god Hero Unit (rich) wont help recreate the world! alas, you find an army of hidden veterans emerging from their long sleep. Rich, Lee and Mike, the Triumvirate gods looked down on the world of dark, Darkbasic.com.The sacred idol, Darkbasic was on its pedastal in the forums, that they had created, and it was good.
But not good enough.

Soon the gods created a new divine power, Darkbasic Pro, and placed it on it's pedastal next to it's brother. The new governing darkness, Darkbasic pro, shone darkly, and by this darkness the gods forged a new world, TheGameCreators.Com and transported all from the lands of dark to it. In the holy sanctum, Apollo, they rested.

But this darkness of this new world was to strong. Soon others came from the lands of Blitz, C, and VB. The gods saw theese refugees and took them under their wing.

But then, from the ash scarred lands of Noobia, came forth a new and evil race: the noobs. The people of the new world were overwhelmed by this mass. Soon the noobs started breeding.

And Capital letters infested the land and 'kewl' filled the sky. And the team requests filled with MMPORGS, to lure the darkdwellers into a frustration and corruption

Thus it lays to you, one of the last surviving darkdwellers, to work your way to Raven Studios, in the land of Noobia, and smite the Noobgod Raven, so the remaining darkdweller can drive thh noobs out

see if we can get this goin further than dark trek. Another thought, you could have the darkbasic group as one team, and have specialist characters that are all the vets of the forums, and have generic newbs aswell, and have the enemies like blitz 3d etc, and they are tryin to take over the resources (which are lil computer stores) and you need to destroy the enemy using each characters special ability. I bags being eth pirate ship guys, but you could have each forum member as a special character that you can only have 1 of at a time, like the stalker in tiberian sun, and the ghost guy, just when they die they can be rebuilt again.

I think we should make like races based on people for example pirates. And then have like the newb armada which have fast,cheap,poorly clothed guys that run at the enemy in hordes etc.

No, you will get an unglamorous position in the noob scene, you wil nto bring chaos to the game creators, an dwe wil not feel your wraiths, nor your poor spelling and changing words like WRATH to something completely different. im workign on a pirate ship model.

Rich needs to be the ultimate unit for the veteran community, with the power of banning - Poof! newbies and MMORPG wanna-bees are stuck where they stand until they get eaten by numerous, assorted bugs and birds.

The opposing evil team of MMORPG wanna-bees can hoard and fire their bulls**t rays at the veterans. Me, on the other hand can be my own species, Aussie-lords! And I can fire my kangapults at everyone and dominate the sanctum.

I think it would be cool if the "units" were actually just the avatars of the famous people around here - like that weird brown thing VanB has, Exeats thing, Jeku's Rubix Cube, MikeS frog etc...

Okay I plan to get the ball rolling finally. RobX if you have any form of IM'ing I'd like to get in touch with you. For anyone else that is interested please post with your planned contributions (models, textures, coding) and contact information (if you don't feel comfortable posting it you can email me, I won't spread it without your permission) I plan to then have an IRC chat in like a week to get all our ideas together and divvy up jobs.
