Hi all.

Going back to basic... I've just re-installed DB Classic, however when I load the program I get the following:
1. A Black screen with a very large Egg timer
2. Then the editor without the right hand scroll bar.
3. DB is unresponsive, only thing to do is to crash out. event hat takes an age.

Any ideas??

Cheers all for your help.

1. see if you have the right version of direct x (9.0c) [href]www.directx.com[/href]

2. Go to drivers [href]www.drivers.com[/href] and see if you have the right driver for your video card.

(I had to do bolth these things and it did work.)

I don't know for sure, but I've read that the DBC editor/compiler has problems with DX9.0c. Stick with DX8 if you are if you are compiling DBC. If also compiling DBP then use DX9.0b.

I have DX9.0c and DBC runs fine for me.

Guns arn't the problem, people are the problem, shoot all the people and guns arn't a problem anymore.

Why not just get DarkEDIT? It's a Window's based Editor for DarkBASIC, much more user friendly!

And, Heartbone, I've never had any sort of problem with DarkBASIC on my PC, and I've been running 9.0c pretty much since it came out ( and using DB occasionaly also )

I haven't, however, used the Default ( horrid black screen ) Editor, if that is what you meant?

Jess.

[EDIT]
DarkEDIT is available in the apps section of the DarkBASIC showcase on this site, btw

If you used a CD to install dark basic try checking the CD for scratches and if the CD has no scratches try checking for dirt then when it is sorted out install it again.
