how do u position an object in 3-d space on flash mx
by 3-d i mean like to where it will be on top of another object so far the onyl way i have

or well i looked in the help files and found object stacking so i figured i have found my problem but i tried doing what it said in the help files and the wrong thing is still overlapping

;i am trying to make some text be on top of a square btw(instead of the sqaurebe on top of the text like it is now)

edit:
found out somethign: those friggin **$^%$^$#%& help file lie i watsed 45 minutes trying to do somethign the way the help files said and then the help files were wrong
i didnt think layers mattered since the text was on a higher layer so it should overlap anyway
Quote: "Layers also affect the stacking order. Everything on Layer 2 appears on top of everything on Layer 1, and so on. To change the order of layers, drag the layer name in the Timeline to a new position. See Using layers."

and of course the text was on layer 3 and all ym shapes were on layer 2 and 1 but now i moved my text to layer 1 and moved my shapes to layer 3 and now suddenly the text overlaps the box instead of the bx overlapping the text

so i guess delete or lock this thread
*sorry for my high posting lately i just searched everywhere and after reading the help files i posted here(and after trying a million ways to make what the help files said work)*

Yes, the help file is crap. You can change a layers z-position by dragging it's layer above or below the other ones.

EDIT: I really should read the entire post before responding...

This is partly why I don't like the ability to pirate industry programs, you get young people blaming the program for simple problems that all developers assume is common knowledge.

if each object is on different layers then change the layer order.

if the objects are grouped into seperate objects and on the same layer then you can change the z dimension order with the commands:

bring to front / send to back / bring forward / send backward

look for the "arrange" submenu and note the keyboard shortcuts so its a lot easier to change them swiftly.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

pfft, if you cant work that out then you might be frustrated and not focusing.

I provided you with two options layers and grouping z order.
