Hehehe, look at this - M$ are recalling 14 million power cables for the xbox because there's a risk they'll catch fire. This is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4274035.stm

Part of solving the problem is actually noticing that the problem is there in the first place

Thanks for that, turns out my xbox runs the risk of having a faulty power cable so I just got a free one.

It appears to me that the older xboxes are infact better...the new clear one makes a very wierd sound when you turn it on and open the tray for example (well it does here)

Ehem, does this mean you're only at risk if you leave you XBox switched on 24 hours a day?

I think that means they don't want your house to burn down when you're away.. ie, don't pause your game and go out for a grocery stop

That will never happen because the cable is coated... Unless you stripped em on purpose.

If you're collecting all the skulls on Halo 2 and want to leave it on overnight.

So....I might be able to get a free power cable as well. Sweet.

Yeah, mine needs a new one aswell.. Better safe than sorry..

Fewer than 1 in 10000..

I suppose that's pretty good reason for them, better to do that than leave, have your house burnt down and then sue them.

Mind you, they also say if you dont accept the new power cord, your waranty will still work(even if you use the old one)

Yeah, have Microsoft no consideration?

They ought to include free cable strippers with all the new Xboxs, so you don't miss out on the experience of infernal combustion.

I do that frequently, to go get soda, or food, or whatever.

I don't usually keep much food in my house, I just go pick up what I want.. Sure wastes some gas, but then I don't buy stuff that I never use

Just the other day I left my playstation paused (because I was mid-mission, and couldn't save mid-mission) and had a thirst for some Mountain Dew
