Not a big hockey fan, but judging by the other topic, I'm sure some people will be pleased with this.

Wait, you saw the other topic but still decided to post this in a new thread? What the hell were you thinking?

No, it doesn't, it's on the same topic. Stop flooding us with useless international sports!

Praise be to hockey.

I was told about the cancellation just this morning, and everybody in Math class was convinced that it was okay because nobody liked it. They were ignorant, and they shall suffer!

Well, I'm canadian, and I'm a hockey fan...And I hate the fact that the season is resuming. The players are way overpaid, and the NHL doesn't make enough money to stay afloat. The NHL should have folded, fired the players, resumed under a new banner, and hired the players back with strict salary caps.

Bob Goodenow has proved that he's pretty much good for nothing in these talks and past talks.

Any player that argues that they need a 3% cost of living wage increase and makes more than 1,000,000$ a year is probably the most ignorant person on the planet. If you make 1,000,000$ you do not need a 3% cost of living wage increase. Especially when you consider that 3% translates into 30,000$ which is more than alot of single mothers make anually.

The players are greedy bastards, that's what it boils down to. That's what everyone has always known since the 1990's when the salary's started skyrocketing out of control.

The owners are partially to blame for these rediculous salaries.

A 40 game season is going to put the cup in the hands of an underdog for sure. Someone will fluke their way to the finals.

The 45 MIL cap is going to crush teams like Calgary and Edmonton. Ottowa already has 1 foot out the door.

40 games? try 28, with full playoffs afterward. But I agree some oddity will win it, meh. Thats ok tho because now theres no time for a team to "slump", every game is ultra important now. BTW, is it definitely back on? I heard they will announce today from NY?

Quote: "No, it doesn't, it's on the same topic."

So by that logic all threads having to do with "games" regardless of secondary point should all be in one thread. Less work for rich and us mods then I guess. I look forward to the new forum structure. Wake up - Hockey Cancelled is one thread - Hockey miraculously saved from cancellation is another.

Quote: "Stop flooding us with useless international sports!"

Um, that'd be in "YHO" and this is an international forum.

I'll laugh if you continue to stand behind your original comment. You're too smart for that. Don't disappoint

No, you're using too broad of examples. The original thread was that "NHL is cancelled", everyone looking for information about NHL being cancelled will look in that thread, then they'll see someone's posted that it's no longer cancelled in that same thread and everyone's happy. It's on the same topic, they're directly related. It's not like the 2 threads have one or two things in common, they're the exact same thing!!

right, and what about the people who read it already, dont want to read it anymore, and are hockey fans? Should they continue to look in a "hockey cancelled" thread for possible info on "hockey NOT cancelled" ? No, of course not!

Again, you know I hold you in high esteem, but to defend your original logic is folly, save yourself whilst you can!!

Ok, so now the players have screwed themselves out of one season. What makes them think they won't screw themselves out of another season? The owners can hold out indefinately, they'll just bail and keep their money. Or the league can fold and restructure under a new banner with stiffer economic values. This would effectively break the NHLPA union.

By that logic a new thread should be made everytime there's a minor update. Perhaps the NHL is going to recancel the season, are you going to make a new thread about that? And what about if they're considering cancelling again but haven't firmly decided on it, should that require yet another new thread? "NHL considering recancelling season", then when they actually do cancel the season we get another new thread, "NHL cancelled season again". Face it, you can't make a new thread everytime there's an update on a particular topic, if this hockey fan is interested in the topic of the cancelled season then I'd guarantee you they're going to read the thread more than once. It's only logical.

Wait till the 05-06 season.

ok now yore being an idiot - sad part is that you know it.

Quote: "Perhaps the NHL is going to re-cancel the season, are you going to make a new thread about that? "

See the problem here? Re-cancel? Theres something called CANCEL, Then theres something called NOT CANCELLED. If you're hanging your hat on "re-cancelled", then you are an idiot.

You cant admit the stupidity of your initial statement, so you defend it... Ravenesque, ravenesque.

I have to say that Exeat is right.

This thread is definately on the topic of NHL being cancelled.

This is how the conversation should go:
Quote: ""Guess what? NHL has been cancelled"
"OMG that's terrible"
"Yeah, yeah, they're so overpaid"
"Blah blah cry cry"
"GUESS WHAT GUYS!? It's back on!!!"
"Whoop whoop whoop!!!""

Our version goes like this:
Quote: ""Guess what? NHL has been cancelled"
"OMG that's terrible"
"Yeah, yeah, they're so overpaid"
"Blah blah cry cry"

"Hey guys, let's talk about something else"
"Ok.... what?"
"Well apparently NHL is back on!"
"That's not a new conversation you idiot""

...

I think they're both wrong and a petty arguement over "Maybe we should or should not create a new thread for this" is pretty damn lame. Theres more important things you could be doing, like going outside and arguing with the Ice Cream man or something. The worst part of this, is that this petty arguement is coming from the 2 of the damned mods. You know what that shows for a community when the mods are arguing over something as petty and stupid as this? I expect this from 12 year old boys and females of all ages (oh yes people, I did say females of ALL AGES... Sue me!).

You have been sued! Expect to receive a formal letter of complaint from my attorney sometime in the coming months detailing the law suit and the amount that I will be suing you for (expect it to be in the gazillions). You were discriminatory against my gender by indicating that we should be in someway more mature than the opposite sex, this is laying unfair expectations on myself and many of the people around me. Oh, and then there's the mere fact that you're taking this 'petty argument' far too seriously.
