Well, Sony is proving yet again why they are they gayest around. EQ 2 features /pizza as seen here http://everquest2.station.sony.com/pizza/.

Helping fat lazy bastards who never leave the solace of their room by allowing them to order pizzahut from within the game.

What's next? /prostitute?

When the pizza delivery chump arrives, tell him you'll tip him in copper. Or offer him some loot off your next kill.

Well, it only links to the pizzahut order site. At least you don't order _directly_ from the game. Now _that_ will be sad.

The way I see it, that's no reason to hate them.
When a company removes a feature from software you use, then you can hate them. That's why I hate Java.
When a company adds a feature, even if you'd never use it and it doesn't get in your way, there's no reason to hate anybody.

Though, I do agree that ordering pizza in-game is silly. But it's more fun than simply dialling to the local pizza hut. And if you're on dial-up, you don't have to disconnect to call them... I would add such a feature to my games, but only for the fun of doing so.

When you consider some people spend days (literally) online playing games, I can see this actually being incredibly popular with the antisocialistic minority.

I don't suffer from insanity:

I enjoy every minute of it!

if it works well. but if it works ingame, it'll be more popular. like, if you change your account and password in the settings or the command has arguments, instead of going to the website. you know, i might try that.

What it could be useful for is minimising the game, type /pizza to get your browser up and then u can browse (that's if alt tab is blocked)

@arkheii

It doesn't link to pizza hut...If you type /pizza it opens up an ORDER DIALOG BOX. Truely lame. LOL

There's a lot of people playing online games. There's got to be at least 1 person who would find it useful. If it was the EQ programmers who came up with the idea, then it's understandable. But I really think the business people had something to do with it, scoring a contract with another company or whatever.

It's not a bad idea when you consider that some people have made themselves sick playing games non-stop without food (one Korean even starved himself to death). The dialup argument is also a very good one, no one wants to have to disconnect from the net to order a pizza.

I wonder how much money Pizzahut paid them! I'd say Sony got a lifetime free supply of pizzas

I'd find it useful, cause I am that type of obsessive gamer who will sit at my computer on my ass for hours without food or water. Hell, I played guild wars today for 4 hours before taking a break, and same for the other 3 members of my party. Then I ate some cake, got a drink of water, watched a movie, and came back and played another 3 hours before getting any food or drink (all but 1 member of my party this time did the same). And you know what? I'm about to go back and play it for more hours. (Edit: I just realized it is about 3am... so i only got about 30 more minutes in, could sworn it was only midnight :/ )

So some people may find this function useful, plus maybe, just maybe, the advertising money from this helped lower server costs for the EQ2 players, just a wee a bit. Who cares if you don't like it, some people might like it. I would like it, that is, if i played EQ2. :/
