i have searched the web for a really long time (so long that i even forgot what i need the converter for )
there are a lot of xxx to directx converters but there are no directx to xxx converters!! how is that?

i cant write my own... hmm, or maybe i could i will defenitley try but then i need to know how the 3ds file is built.. i know how directx files work.

anyway if someone knows about a directx to 3ds converter that would be great, and please post here.
if someone knows how the 3ds file is built please post, i will defenitley continue on with my searching.

thanks in advance.

In Max:

File > Export (USE .3DS)

Then ur 3DS file can be turned into an X if you want.

Chicken baloney, verily so.

Which is why 3ds2x is a very redundant command (You can load .3ds already, and just use save mesh to get an .x file.).

Currently working on a project that'll convert all types of files in DBP to other formats. For now though, search google for lithunwrap v1.3. That'll convert tons of different formats.

I think that Lithunwrap will convert X to 3ds, and it's free if you can find the old version.

For research on file formats, can't beat wotsit

http://www.Wotsit.org
(Webby name: Wotsit's File Formats)

Got loads of stuff, I saw 3DS in there.

WARNING: 3DS seems to be quite a ... detailed format..

there is deep exploration but it uses a max dcom plugin and therefore needs max

to be honest i think deep exploration is about the only program i've seen that can do x to 3ds
