What do you guys think? My fan on my fx5600 is pretty much dead now. I think two or three bearing having gone and it just rattles as it spins. At the moment I'm not really playing or making any games, so nothing is being accelerated, so I wonder if I can just run the card without the fan until I pick up a replacement. What do you think?

Depends on how long your gonna do it, i'd not suggest anymore then 2 weeks.

Just make sure you turn off all options that make the thing use power and generate heat. And also turn off your computer anytime ya have a chance.

If you love someone, set them free; If they come home, set them on fire.

Actually, I might take the opportunity to pick up a new card. I should switch the topic of this thread to - what's a good geforce to pick up that isn't going to overly kill my bank balance, but is still a good step up from the 5600? No ATI please! (Because I don't feel there is much performance difference between ATI and geforce and geforce have always been good to me! )

hehe. Actually, once again I've wised up and tightened the purse strings and just ordered the replacement fan instead. I really don't need to splash money on my computer. I'd rather spend it on crack.
