shoot, i forgot to mention that: i've already seen that page, and while i can see the features listed out on a page, i want to know what the differences are to people that are actually making games, real world differences. sort of like the real world performance of a car? on paper, you can get 30 mpg, but in day to day driving, it's actually 20 mpg, see what i mean?

Oh, DBP is so much better there is too much to count...but the biggest is, I hate...HATE the editor for DBC. Go PRO

Even though DBC may have lower system requirements, 99% of the time DBPro will run programs faster than DBC. People may claim that since DBPro is still being updated it is buggy, but I can assure you DBC has quirky bugs of its own that are a pain in the buttox to get around. If you're really looking for the best solution use DarkSDK. I tried to teach my friend DB for a long time. He caught on to QuickBasic well but not DB. So now that we're learning C++ both of us are using a bunch of BASIC stuff and not realizing it until we get slapped in the face with errors from the compiler.

DBPro is just altogether faster. Can handle more resources. Can handle different types of resources. Already has lots of cool things built into it (ie particles).

There's no question which one to get, DBPro is the only one being updated.

Get 15 new commands, all the date / time commands left out of DBPro for free!

I've used both extensively.

DBC is much easier but the levels etc... that you can make in it are smaller, as the games run pretty slow when they start to get graphically detailed.

DBPRO is much faster, and the graphics can be as good as you want, but contains many bugs and games take longer to get working properly.

You will get a lot more headaches with PRO, but it is better in the end if you are serious about game making. If you are unconfident with coding though, try CLASSIC.

pff, what's wrong with guys' ide for dbc?

I'd buy pro, as it's being updated.

And no, it's no more difficult to use than dbc. There's just more features in dbp.

Apparently for some, more features mean more confusion x_x

DBP can do anything dbc can do, and just as easily. The confusion comes in when you're using advanced commands in dbp.

Well, not entirely... A while back I tried redoing my old DBC FPS in DBPro and found out that a good number of the commands I was using for the world (texture backdrop, etc.) were taken out. While this wasn't that big of a deal it was annoying to have to convert all my stuff and texture backdrop is easier to use than using textured world spheres. Still DBPro is better.

Perhaps I'm going too far, but sphered backdrops are just as easy as the texture backdrops

The texture backdrops caused more confusion than anything really

I tried textured backdrops in DBC, and it crapped its pants. Might've just been my computer, but anyway DBC has officially retired itself from my computer. I may go out and get DarkSDK for kicks and giggles once I nab a hold of VC 7.

Basicly, DBC stinks and DBP rules!!!!!!!!!! DBC supports DirectX 8.0 while DBP 5.7 supports DirectX9.0c. DBP is way faster and has less bugs. With DBC, commercial quality games are hard to make, while DBPro offers a better chance of creating a commercial quality game.

What you mean is DBP NEEDS a higher version of DirectX than DBC. I wouldn't say DBP has less bugs..

Actually, DBP Requires and Utilizes DirectX 9.0c, while DBC only requires and utilizes the features of DX 8.

Not really. It depends more on the programmer. One best games was made in DBC.
