I always had a soft spot for the dreamcast, they're a lot like Gamecubes I reckon, they both have these unique games that you just don't get anywhere else - I played through JetGrindRadio and it just strikes me how the Xbox SEQUEL could possibly play and look worse than the trusty DC version. UT on dreamcast trounced the PS2 version, same goes for Quake3 - at the time these were the daddies of FPS games and DC had all the aces, even the hobbiest port of Quake1 rocked.

I have a DC, gamecube and xbox hooked up - all my older stuff is in the attic gathering dust, I'm not even sure what's up there now. I just got my son the new slim PS2 for his birthday, now I don't often say this, but it impressed the hell outta me. It's like half the size you assume it is - like take a CD box and add an inch in width and height and your pretty close! - it's a lot quieter too, barely noticable in fact. It's just a shame that it's still only a PS2 .

I usually find myself playing the gamecube more than anything, Pikmin2 rocks, but I recently got Men of Valor for XBox, which is simply the only console 'nam game worth playing. Been on tour with my little brother, killing gooks and burning villages - seriously it's the first time in ages that I've bought a game that I really like (and only £23 from gamestation!).
"

Me too, I still play my dreamcast every day and sometimes use dreamkey 3.0 internet (dont know why really) and i have Unreal Tournament too, such a shame online play was dropped here in the UK, could have been so good...I heard america got online play....:S.

Anyway the Quake 3 servers are down now (finally but i still play on quake 3 sometimes (with my trusty keyboard and mouse!)

Van B do you have the Fishing Controller + Sega Bass? I do its really fun...

My prephirals (spelling) include (for DC):
Steering Wheel
Arcade Stick
Fishing Controller
Gun + HOTD2
Keyboard
Mouse
[ Dont have the mirophone]

Pretty cool huh ?

What games + prephirals do you have Van B (or anyone with DC)...

Ill post a screenshot of my workstation too soon.

Possibly, but Dell does have excellent technical help and getting replacements for damaged hardware is easy but the real reason Dell rocks is that I get a discount on computers if I order through my job (and if I write it up as a "buisness expense" I can even get it for free ).

Replacing damaged hardware from newegg is quite simple as well.. Most parts have a one year warranty at minimum.

Also, dell's "extended" warranty can cost over 200 dollars x_x

When cd drives cost 30 bucks that's kinda a crappy warranty

My processor has a 3 year warranty.. and it being the most expensive component at less than 200 bucks.. I'd much rather buy a new processor in 4 years if it fails (if I even have the same processor in four years) than to send my entire computer to dell to have their people fix it.

It's worth not having "fantastic" support when you're saving upwards of 400 dollars

I have a keyboard and mouse for the DC, I always wanted that fish dude thing with the microphone, looked so cool. I never did finish Quake, could'nt kill that last guy for the life of me, and it unlocks a little memory card game that I still haven't seen. Compared to Unreal Championship on the XBox, UT on the dreamcast is head and shoulders above it - give me a ripper and a 3 on 3 team deathmatch anyday .

I'm trying to find that DC mouse everywhere!!! Playing Q3 on that control just isn't right. Nothing against the control though, I really like the DC control.
I have the keyboard, 3 controls, 2 vmus, and a pile of games I bought at giveaway prices. Dead or Alive 2, NFL Quarterback Club 200 (yet I hate american football), San Francisco Rush 2049, a whole lot more.

Meh... may as well add a pic of my "workstation" into the discussion. It’s kinda hard to fit the whole thing into the pic as it spreads down the whole of one of my bedroom wall. There’s a Gamecube in there hidden behind that pile of books and a bookshelf full of pc games of to the left.

You'll have to excuse the poor quality of the picture - cheap digital cameras may seem a good deal at the time but you will always live to regret it.

Neofish, it's a mouse that, instead of a ball, uses a laser to track itself.

I doubt it I have an optical mouse, which I think you mean, which uses an IR beam (not strong enough to be a laser, too dangerous) to track itself...however I may be talking out of my arse

I had an infrared optical mouse at work, damn expensive piece of crud - you had to put a lot of pressure on the top to stop light interfering with the laser, then it would jerk and get stuck - it eventually got thrown across the room into the bin.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of cable and a rubber ball in my book .

I'm with you on that one Van. I loved the dreamcast. Favorite games were Test Drive 5 and Soul Calibur. Not exactly unique to the DC, but still great fun.

I tried to get all my computer's in one shot, I missed one. Plus, the Amiga is set up in the other room. My workspace no longer looks like this, its been taken apart. Tomorrow I will have finished moving everything into my new place, so for now this is my last night online. I have great plans for my new computer setup in the apartment. I'll take a picture and post it when I have a chance.
Btw, the monitor in the corner looks small, but its a 19".

O_o what kind of optical mouse were you using? One from the early 80's?

My optical mouse is far superior to the ball mice. Easy flowing and never needs cleaning. Had this same mouse for two years now.

Would never go back to a ball mouse.. the thing cost a total of 10 dollars..

I got the logitech wireless rechargable optical laser mouse. Works 100% better than the standard led optical mouse. Didn't think I'd notice the difference, (And none of that flashing red light as it used an infred laser. It doesnt seem to have the lag that the other wireless mice I used seemed to have with games too.
