Anyone watch this last night?

It was pretty obvious that simpsons would be no.1...Seeing as C4 has just spent millions on the right to air simpsons episodes...

So anyone shocked by any of the cartoons places?

[Meh, i was shocked that The Incredibles got so high]

I watched it. I was a bit surprised that wacky races came 100th - its an awesome cartoon. it should definately have got higher.

Also, Bod. I mean, who wants to watch a gender confused kid prancing around? I really don't see the point. It should definately have come lower.

It doesn't seem accurate at all :
How can people compare a movie to a cartoon that comes every day/week ?
Voted by people ? They should mention which people were questionned.

Apperently the UK ?
In central Europe, I suppose you would have also seen things like "DBZ", "Heidi", ... and of course the "Smurfs" !!!

I was shocked that Legend of the Overfiend was in there. Nice to see some good Anime in there, Akira, Spirited Away, but I would've thought Ghost in the Shell should've been somewhere. Be aware, I didn't see all of it!
I thought the Incredibles is a bit too new to be considered, it hasn't had enough of a chance to establish itself or fail yet.
I was annoyed that Tom & Jerry wasn't in 1st place, but considering they're been almost forgotten what with this political 'cretinism' we have today censoring those 60+ year old, Oscar Winning cartoons!
I was pleased that some real oldies were in there, some so old they were even before my time, like Bod and Ivor the Engine.
I'd almost forgotten Pokemon ever existed, now I've got to forget it all again!

Well, I'm shielded by the fact that I'm the only one (probably) that knows what Arne actually said. Don't know of any other Swedish-speaker on this board. I might get inte trouble if there are norwegians or danes on, though.

Hokuto no Ken and Dragon Ball not in top 100?!? And Wacky Races only 100th? And Pokemon in the list (awful) ?! Who voted this list?
I agree with Simpsons #1 and Tom&Jerry #2, present and past greatest cartoons.
Other great cartoons were Woody Woodpecker and Road Runner, and to me South Park is too high, and Beavis&Butthead too low in the list.

Obviously the results are skewed because you're taking the nominees from a huge time span, a range of genres and many different styles. Then you need to take into account the people voting may rank older cartoons higher due to the nostalgia factor, or may even have forgotten about them completely. Not too picky with their candidates huh, a lot of those are animated, not cartoons - like The Nightmare Before Christmas. That does deserve a place though, damn awesome film, Tim Burton is the man.

I think I would have put SouthPark before Tom and Jerry, (and Family Guy for that matter) - They showed the Timmy.vs.Jimmy episode a couple of nights ago on C4, the cripple fight scene is priceless.

I wouldn't count films like The Incredibles that were made specifically for cinema. "Real" cartoons are the ones that were TV series. A couple of hours of awesome film footage is a different ball-park to producing several hours, if not days of footage for a series, with a different story line each episode.

Noice that most of the cartoons were old - I counted 80 out of the 100 were at least 10 years old.

It probably shows that that the current state of cartoons aren't exactly memorable.

I noticed that M.A.S.K didn't make the list, nor Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors...

There were a lot of things that shouldn't have been there too - I defined a cartoon as a hand-drawn animated program or film, which means that most of Pixars stuff shouldn't have been there.

What was that really really old cartoon that they would show on 'the Banana Bunch' - anyone below the age of 25 probably won't remember, but it was these Arabs who could shape shift, like: SIIIIIZE OF AN ELEPHANT, then in a puff of smoke there'd be an elephant.

One thing though, notice how badly drawn some of the old cartoons were, like He-Man and real early Simpson episodes, compared to the same period for the main players like Disney and WB at least. I did'nt think about it like that at the time, I only noticed how shoddy He-Man was when they started showing them recently after about 15 years.

Filmation were known for poor quality animation, although in parts the animation for He-man was very good.

Don't get me wrong, the Simpsons is alright I guess, but I would never say it's the best cartoon ever - I mean, what about Southpark or Family Guy?!
Infact, I haven't seen the simpsons since it moved from BBC2

TMNT is by far more than 1 better than Spongebob, that's just gay, it shouldve been up there, who voted? TODAYS kids, or TODAYS adults?
