you know those games where you can customize your character down to the muscles in his face....how would you go about coding something like that?

you would have to hand model every piece then assemble them via limb commands.

For things like "The Muscles in the face", you would deform the mesh.

To do that, you need to edit the verticies on the mesh using something like DmitryK's plugin ( Have a look in Program Announcements ).

One thing I have done(which is very easy and cool) is to place bones inside various locations in the 3d model. You can then scale them to achieve a more muscular character, fatter character, etc. I believe this has also been done for facial muscles in certain games.

Also, with bitmaps you could make a program in which you could dynamically paint to the character's face.

For clothes and armor, you would have to model them with the same relative bone positions as the characters body and modify their rotation according to what was moving.
