Nice, dont know if its something you want to look into, but have a look at the ultimate shader thread they had a n amzing glow effect that would make that level unreal!

Nice! With appropriate lights and a cute landscape it should become even better.

I've just played the demo. Cool animation!
Try out this version (by Barak Ori) of an old times classic platform: Manic Miner. It's not in DB but this little game could be of inspiration for your game, at least I think so
