OK i know we have done votes on what game is best? What movie is best? What actor who we really dont know but like to talk about and gossip about is best? But I have never seen a proper thread that has anything relevant to the fact of music except for maybe "BEST ALBUM"(obviously greenday-American Idiot) but there is almost never anything about the best soundeffects/music in a game so that is why I have started this thread, Please only nominate one THAT YOU HAVE ACTUALLY PLAYED the categories are "Best soundtrack" "best sound effects" and "BEST ALL AROUND", like I said please only nominate one for each category, you can change your vote if you like I dont care i will tally up as best I can. This ends on MARCH 31st (or whatever the last day is I am to lazy to check calendar right now)

Men of Valor.

The way the music changes when your under attack is just perfect, gives the game a polished feel, like it's got some sort of conductor controlling the music depending on what's happening.

I messed arouns with this a while back. It's very possible by using music broken down into smaller segments. It's very easy with dance type tracks. The hard bit is ensuring different segments can be mixed seamlessly. My first attempt was a simple progression, so it went from intro to gamplay to finale, quite easy.

The clever bit is mixing different segments almost randomly, and also anticipating events, and swapping in shorter segments before they happen for quicker control over the changes when they kick in.

I agree with Eric T - Silent Hill 2, but then I seem to be spending most of my time recommending Silent Hill to people at the moment...

Soundtrack - Panzer Dragoon Saga
I've said before, many times, that PDS has an awesome soundtrack, it's just a shame the game has been almost forgotten.

Sound effects - Project Zero
Ehem, I haven't played the sequal yet, but this game has the best sound effects, they will scare the s&*t out of you!

Best all round - Panzer Dragoon Saga
Nuff said.

I don't suffer from insanity:

I enjoy every minute of it!

Great response guys, thanks but please remember that there are 3 categories, to all who only put a name please edit the post so it also says the category and to anyone who hasn't posted just take in mind that there are categories.
@ jrowe- Sacrilage you diss the all-powerful greenday? Now seriously
What is wrong with Greenday-American Idiot, It disses the Bush administartion, has a whole lot about some guy named saint jimmy and is completely and utterly politically incorrect, and to top that all off it has nice acoustics

Tetris.

Actually, the best music I've heard in a game is from Donkey Kong Country 2.

And to heck with the categories.

Halo and Half-life 2 definatly have excellent sound tracks.

HL2, not as much as music but as ambient music/effects. Great work. Too bad the game sucked.

Guys Half Life 2 was one of the best games I have ever played how could we say it sucked?? It is so realistic I wish it were made with DBpro. too bad its not otherwise we would have something to brag about If we all want to argue about greenday then I suggest we make a new forum for that, in fact I think I will might want to look for it in a few days Anyway back to HL2 it has absolutely nothing to do with the original in any way but the story plot (and even then its kinda hard to tell)

@Coolest Dealz
I agree in the sense that the music was not even on par with Halo 1. It served its purpose of arousing testerone-pumped adolescent Xbox addicts, but it had too much attitude for something as grandiose as Halo. What I'm talking about was the sound effects work, it was beautiful.

No Bear Crazy he is right Halo2 is not even worth the spot in the all mighty HALO series, I mean Honestly when you can say the first game was better you know that The sequel sucks and I believe that Halo3 is not even worth buying BUT Halo2 has very good soundtrack and soundeffects even if the game was crap.

Still working on a Greenday argument forum check there today i will start it right now

Did you play it on Xbox Live?

Because 99% of the people who say things like what you and Coolest Dealz say have only played the campaign and are pissed about its ending, and maybe done a little split screen. Not saying that's the case with you, just want to double check.

Anybody listened to those tracks from Advent Rising? It's beautiful stuff, work from the Mormon Tabbernacle Choir, Tommy Talarico, and many other famous people.

Ahh, see, that's why. I'm disappointed I stopped going through campaign because now I stink at Live. Get with some friends, make a clan, do some clan battles, it's fantastic stuff. It was this one game that I witnessed at my friend's place that convinced me to get Live.

It was fast assault on Zanzibar. Veins was driving the hog, gotpwned was surfing on the hood (sitting on it and letting the force of the warthog keep him on), gotpwned stuck veins right as they neared the base and so Veins died (taking out some enemies with him), but gotpwned was able to get a boost up to the second floor of the base with the bomb in hand. He ran in and jumped right to the planting spot. Monkey was already on the roof (from nade-jumping off the shutters) and sniping anybody that got close enough to gotpwned to be considered a threat. It was the last second and I saw a rocket flying toward gotpwned, he was screaming and humping the bomb spot with excitement right as the rocket hit gotpwned I heard a "Bomb armed, Bomb planted!" and it was all over.
