i have microsoft visual c++ 6.0 but i just can`t find any good tutorial on it for a beginner like me.
I really wanna learn the language and i decided to buy a book!
The book looks really good so im looking forward to start learning!
But the book first arrives in 10-18 days.........
The book i have bought is this one and is on 1200 pages :

Well you've certainly got the right attitude for learning!.

Learning C++ is a bit like a roadrunner cartoon, some people are roadrunners, I'm more of an accident prone cayote . I'll probably try and learn enough to make basic plugins, I dread learning C++ properly so I probably never will.

So don't. Learn c# instead. I'm using to write win32 gui apps at the moment and so far, so good. I imagine that in the coming months, some of the major engines will be fully ported to c# and I'll be able to harness teh power.

There's a lot of mud slinging going on about C#'s inability to be used for game development. From the reports I've seen, C# does an admirable job when put up against C++.

Well, by the looks of the very next thing he said, I don't think he planned to.

But what if Microsoft suddenly collapses, shuts the whole economy down, and all the people who learned to work with Unix and know C++ in and out are suddenly the next Bill Gates?

Btw, how do you use C# for free?

Well, what about in a couple years when both C# and DX9 have become obsolete? You know it'll happen!

Thank you much Jimmy! Now I shall complete domination over the known universe, or somethin like that.

I haven't bought DBP yet. I'm thinking I'll save myself the headaches and just get DarkSDK. DarkBasic is easy to use as far as setting everything up, but when you're trying to follow logic C++ makes more sense.
