No, the objects arent what i was thankful for the most... I really enjoyed being with my friends and my family on my birthday. The presents were unexpected, but a nice bonus.

All in all, i would've been happy without them.

Woe there soony jim, not all us brits are materialistic, i myself am much more chilled when im camping in the woods... i will admit there is alot over here and i have inherited the "bl**dy french" attitude (damn retreating, white flag waving...) but compared to the american "Ill have it supersize" attitude we could be worse.
As for my birthday, my parents beat me to death with a zebra...

(yes i know, not all americans want it supersize yada yada ... im just tired and hypocrytical)

Retreat? While we are on the subject of ummm..something, let me just say that the French werent the ones too cowardly to fight in the Iraq war, it was infact the case that blair was too cowardly to say no to Bush. I know thats not what your refering to, I just thought I would say it.

Wow, I can't believe your parents just give you money, the concept of 'allowances' down here quite frankly, doesn't exist. If you want money, you have to work for it.

But anyway, did it occur to you that you might consider 'saving' some of that cash instead of spending it all at once?

Should live with my family a while, it is ridiculous.
I am for some reason stuck with my mother and step-dad. Why? I have no idea. I said they could stay in my guest room for a festival near me over Christmas, they are still here.

What gets me, is for Christmas they thought they'd surprise me with a Car. Awesome timing given my last one's electronic starter died, making it more expensive to repair than buy a new car.

Now although I wasn't expecting anything new, I wasn't expecting something over a decade old, a '91 Renault Clio.

It was a thoughful gift though. At least it was until my step-dad mentioned that it cost £X and that if I wanted it I would need to pay the excess of £120. Felt even more annoyed that a week later it died on me too. From someone who is a professional mechanic, I would not have thought it would do on me.

What gets me about the whole situation was, his car died a few weeks later. Goes out and buys himself a brand new 2005 model of what was damaged.

Really, some people have it just so good. Quite Disheartening.
