Hi...
I´m new to darkbasic...
I´m very curious to learn darkbasic, but i dont know if i start with the darkbasic classic or the professional?? i have the DarkBasic Pro CD and the Beginners Guide... but the Beginners Guide refers alot to the classic version, so you can see my problem.

Any help and advises would be appreciated...

Tks

I started with Dark Basic Pro, so I would advise to start with Pro, the language is simple enough to get to grips with easily, I think in the Dark Basic Pro manual there is a tutorial to get started on, and you can always ask for help on the forums. The reference manual is useful also. I would recommend starting on Dark Basic Pro. If you need any help, just ask gamedesignerrocker@hotmail.com.

I would go with pro if you can afford it. there are many thing you can do in pro much better. That said, I have heard some of the examples from the book do not work in pro.

get DBP, ull probably end up switching to it anyways , and welcome to the forums/DBP community

Video games…they can take you places unreachable, impossible, unfeasible. They put you in the book...they put you in the movie...they put you in a world, a world that before could only be imagined.

Hi,

Ive used Dark Basic Pro ages back, I got bored of it, but I came back and tried Dark Basic Classic, and I must say this couldnt be more fun!

Personally DBC is the best choice...(for me)

Everyones different, just don't start out with C++

I suppose for me DBC for a while was more fun because I liked the idea of the editor running fullscreen on its own and stuff, but go with DBP. Afterall, for the beginner DBP is probably better anyway because it is faster, and usually when your new to something you don't exactly create the most optimised routines for calculations. Plus DBP has loads of plugins for it

No, that is not enough said, you just said some random phrase with no explanation. What has that got to do with anything?

DbPro Is under continuing development, DBC is not. It is a language you can grow with. Other than that, they are very nearly the same syntax wise. DBpro just has more.. I made the switch and have not looked back.

Something really catchy that makes people stop and think about the meaning of life and say to themselves "My but thats clever"

I LOVE DARKBASIC CLASSIC!!!!!!
I'd recommend getting DBC, it's MUCH easier and fun!

and for any problems,

example: Mp3's can't be loaded, so change it into a WAV. or MIDI. with a converting program! (that's what I do!)

DBC ROCKS MY SOCKS!!
