This is not open to the public ^_~, well, for Dark Basic people anyway, at my site you can backup any file you want, if it's a script or even if it's a document, picture or whatever....and its free.

I built this after hearing some people living due to not backing up files on a server =( but I think you should use this application I have built to help you!

Please take a momemnt and have a look:

http://www.coolestdealz.com

BTW: Thier is no file size limit.

IS this a scam!!!?? Don't give me that if it is so safe why doesn't your website ware the "Hacker Safe" tag?? I cannot trust anyone. If you have ever read "Hacking Exposed" it was publeshed from "FoundStone" (a leading scruity company they make programs to prtect people like Eli Lily or Microsoft) If you haven't read it you should, it will help you make things more secure.

P.S. You have to run out of memory to store all those alplications.
P.S. Also, Backing up files is the number one thing to do to you computer once a mounth!!

Note: The above I didn't say, your just crazy.

People can still delete it by saving a file with the same name as yours, which it seems his system dosn't stop it.

I'm not sure what you think Encryption is used for, but its not just for protecting private data; it is also used for hiding data from people/applications by changing the way the data looks.

Well, of course its a computer... what the hell do you think the guy is using, a type writer? Maybe for your "conspiracy theory" you should of said "Automated message".

Ya know, I bet your the kinda person who thinks the mexican government is slipping laxitives into the american water in order for us to buy more mexican food eh?

I dunno where your getting this "He's a 1337 h4xx0r" from, but this is by no means hacking. This is a person storing your files on his webserver. I see no hacking going on here. Maybe you need to take off the tin foil coat and realize, not everyone is a hacker on the internet. And all this is, a guy trying to kife a few coding projects.

My Servers are 100% uptime, and secure.....

If you don't trust my server or me, fine, don't use it ^_^ your lose.

Look I hard a proper read of your comment, let me get this straight to you:

A) If someone uploads something with the same name, and file ext, I.E mysoftware.exe, it will NOT overwrite it, it will simply change it's name, and I have told people not to do that, because they will not find their file.

B) Can you trust me? Yes you can, I do not delete, share, read any information which is placed on the server

C) Is this a scam? No.

D) My site is not SSL (Secure), but when you upload a file it goes directly onto the server, no where else.

E) I designed this to stop people looking at your own data, by looking in the main folder, so it's a private storage area (unless you use the give a way files like mypicture.jpeg because mypicture is so obviouse)

F) Why is it free? Because it's a script I would like to put in use for something.

I hope this answers everything.

CDRW combo drives retail for about £25
DVDRW drives retail for about £50

The most secure backup you can have is that burned CD hidden away somewhere safe, without discrediting 'Coolest Dealz's offer, I think the general concensus is that you'd have to be daft to rely on a free service provided by someone you don't know to keep your backups secure. Burn the CD and hide it somewhere. Take full folder copies regularly if you can. Always use a system partition and seperate storage partition in case your OS goes nuts. After each coding session, select all your project code and copy it into the clipboard - then stick it in a text document on another drive or floppy disk.
Forget tape backup solutions, a DVD writer is a fraction of the cost, is faster, a lot more useful, and the storage media won't be obsolete before the warranty runs out. External hard drives are worth picking up if the price is right, Iomega's external USB hard drives are good and reliable, always pay the little extra for a good brand.

I recently purchased an ICY box and used an old IDE harddrive with it,now I can now backup to this external drive which is really great. You need USB 2.0 to be able to use it,heres a link.

I think, if one is even moderately serious as a developer, the first thing you buy - WELL before the latest nifty gazooking graphics card AND the maphing new audio card is a CD-writer. Heck, you buy the CD-RW even before you buy the computer.

Not to pee on Coolest Dealz parade here, but I'd never trust a backup that I didn't have locked into my little safe under the desk.

They SAID that given enough time a million monkeys with typewriters could recreate the collected works of William Shakespeare... Internet sure proved them wrong.

Guyz Guyz, ^_^

It's mainly for backup, but seriously, you can upload your own avatar pictures on their, now that's a thought huh ...

^_^

Basically upload whatever you want, for whatever you want, it doesn't HAVE to be a back up

Enjoy!

If you can prove it and I cannot think of any other way to disprove what you say then I will stop writing in this forum.

No fixed drive is safe, Because it is Fixed into the system. on the other hand backing up your files to a Tape, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, Flash mem., Floppy disks, zip disks, LS-120 disks, ect.

Having back up data on a Hard Drive or other medium, can be accessed by anyone!

Any data can be accessed by anyone. Anyone can just break into your house, steal your CD's and be off with your Data! So, I have created a solution for this.

I call it "DATA B SAFE"

It has scanning lasers around the PC that tell you if there is any movement. There are 8 cameras hidden in the walls. The Walls themselves by the way are made of Tin foil, so then uncle sam can't scan your brain waves. And high power guns to take out any perps.

Best of all, it only costs 999.99$ if you order with your credit card.

And as a one-time only deal, for each order we'll send you a box of Michael Jackson album covers, simply keep your backup disks inside and forget about anyone ever wanting to steal your precious data.

A thief would'nt take backup disks usually, unless they were very stupid - a burned CD is a glaring link to the original owner, so most thieves would nab the PC and get someone to wipe it then sell it on. It's moving house that's the killer for backups, if your guaranteed to loose anyhting during a house move it's your backup CD's.

Sometimes it's really funny to read these forums : people arguing about something trivial. The solution is pretty simple :
- If you don't trust him, don't upload your files there.
- If you do trust him, post the files you think that are worth to be stored in such a place.

(by the way, his avatar-pic offer doesn't seem dangerous to me)

- Mind the gap -

sorry, i don't really trust it either, due to the fact that i don't really trust a website that only seems to do two things: Sell watches at cheap prices and a "file backup" service. Just doesn't seem right

EDIT: Also because he is offering htis wonderful deal ONE DAY after he joined the forums

LOL

A) Believe me, say as much negative stuff as you will, I already have customers (paid accounts), so like a negative comment is gonna get me down

B) Yes I sell watches, yes at cheapprices, it doesn't mean I am dogey in anyway, or the fact that those are the only two main things I do....

to me thats like saying, oh virgin own airliners, cd shops, I don't trust them.
^_^

C) I advertised it here to help you, but I must of been wrong, my mistake.

D) It's secure, and what you really mean by it I do not know, my servers are a uptime of 100%
I never edit/modify/Delete any files that are uploaded onto my server.

If you do not want to upload on a public server, just pay a £10 fee and get your own folder server.

I am happy with the business I am getting, and I hope you understand that I only ad this to help you out, I'm not asking you to upload, I'm not asking you to pay, all I ask is for your support .
