Every hacker who reads this post, hear this. I have made a programme which i find is unbeatable. I will not release data on the things this system does but hackers, seroiusly i swear this is unbreakable. If you do get to the end somehow....there is a passcode. post the code and i will be AMAZED! tHIS IS A TEST AND HOPEFULLY NO-ONE will be able to hack this coz then i will use it for my games. Enjoy

P.S - The exe is in a zip found by the site below.
[href]www.freewebs.com/jack386-mrnaughty/sgames.htm[/href]
Go to the bottom double click UNBEATABLE SYSTEM.

P.S - How do i make a http:// link on these forums?

Alternatively insert a JMP at 0x0883FF8C, and 0x005ACC9D. You will bypass the problem.

Make it run a check on the exe itself to see if it is the same, otherwise kill it. However that will be rather hard to do

If all you want is a password then use a calculation. As Required said, if you can find where to hack the program then it doesn't matter what you do, as someone can find a place to avoid your password routine. A lot harder to do though.

So, for example, your password is DAZZAG. *Don't* store it as that in the program. Anyone can look in wordpad/ hex editor and look for obvious things. So make a calculation on it. Some of the earliest ones I did was to say ascii values of words. So for example PASS$=CHR(68)+CHR(88)+CHR...etc. That way (unless the compiler translates it) the password won't appear as easily as Robot looked for it.

A better method (explained to me in Uni for Unix passwords) is this : Go through each letter and do a calculation. So the passValue is 0 at the start. Times the ascii value of the first letter of the password by some other number (eg. 10) and add to the passValue. The second letter maybe get the ascii value and times by 3, then add this to passValue. Third letter get ascii value and divide by 5. Add this to passValue. Do this all along the password. Even use the login code to work out maths with the ascii value of the password if you want, just to make super complicated. Now store passValue, *NOT* the password. Then when someone logs in do the same calculation on the password and if it matches what is stored hey presto you are in. And you cannot work out the password from passValue. Even if you know the maths for each letter. Think about it. I had a small argument (with beer admittingly) with a Maths PHD guy over that one. But no way back. Note that this method means that other "words" will get the same passValue as your password, but are so unbelievingly unlikely it's not worth worrying about. And I can't see anyone getting the password from a hex/ wordpad edit. Even if I give you the login and the passValue, and even the algorithm to work it out.

Cheers

My thing opens a file, encrypts it with methods like what Dazzag said, including xor, and spit it back out again.

I believe there might be an MD5 Encryption Plug-in. If there isn't then it isn't exactly hard to make, but it does make life a little more difficult for hackers.

One solution that Kentaree came up with for me, was a layered Encryption. You have 2 programs running, one is specifically designed for the registration. The other is the actual program.
They then talk to each other in different encryptions based on what is being passed. In some instances you can even place dummy keys going back and forth.

This is an more suitable solution, given that someone would have to check both programs. If you add in a need for an encrypted message to be randomly sent and responded in kind, this means there is no way they can simple by-pass security. Instead they have to figure out a way to emulate the calls.

While they would crack it eventually, most people have the attention span of a newt. When programming up your protection, all you have to do is keep them having to figure out new aspects long enough for them to want to give up.

Notice I didn't do anything with the example? Doh...

Password is DAZZAG. The algorithm will be : 1=*10 2=/5 3=+235 4=*19 5=/4. We won't bother with a login effecting the calculations. Would be easy enough though. Eg. First letter of login adds or subtracts one from the calculation (eg. 1=*11 or *9 depending) depending if it's ascii value is odd or even. To be easy too we will just add each to passValue (could add then subtract, whatever)
So.... passValue starts at 0.
Char1=D Ascii=68 Calc=*10 passValue+=680 = 680
Char2=A Ascii=65 Calc=/5 passValue+=13 = 693
Char3=Z Ascii=90 Calc=+235 passValue+=325 = 1018
Char4=Z Ascii=90 Calc=*19 passValue+=1710 = 2728
Char5=A Ascii=65 Calc=/4 passValue+=16.25 = 2744.25

Store 2744.25 as your passValue. Then when login do the same calculation. If it isn't 2744.25 then reject. Simple really.

Was told that is why Unix machines (or ones that use the method) don't give you any way of getting your password, even if you are superuser (root). Unless they store it elsewhere. Which normally happens on forums and the like. Normally they just change it to welcome01 or whatever to get stuffed accounts (forgotten passwords) working again.

Cheers

You would have to pass the Randomisation Seed as part of your Encryption, else the Randomisation is useless.

If you randomise the number when encoding it, then how do you know how do decode it?

If you use the method I said then you should have no worries apart from people hacking the program to avoid the password routine etc. Much like was mentioned before. But that is well hard to do if you hide the routine well enough. And seriously I doubt anyone would even try on unknown software. But is basically the sort of things you hear about with Warez. eg. Patch to stop XP authorisation. That sort of thing. But if Microsoft can't stop it then you don't have a chance. Apart from with the too small to care angle.

Just a password system that stops like 99.9% of people though, then the above will do. Apparently is the general method of Unix passwords. So can't be too bad.

As I said, try and work out the password from the final passValue figure. Even with the algorithm. It ain't happening. Bung in more complicated maths and mix it up with the login (various cool and easy things with ASCII of login) and even more not happening. You aren't breaking that bugger. Unless you write a program to try every combination known to man. In which case I will make the password 128 characters long , then see you again in 2050 when your program has finished
