Hey,

I'd like to, if possible, get a MiniDisc drive for my computer. I've searched google, ebay and kellco for ages but with no luck. I did see some mention of a MD Computer Drive existing but wasn't so popular (perhaps production was stopped?). But if it's still possible to get one, and anyone knows where, can you please send me a link?

MiniDiscs have fallen away because of MP3 players, the biggest buisiness MDs were going to have was in walkmans. The only alternative I can think of is zip-drives. But I only know of 100mb and 250mb discs, although my father tells me you can get Jaz-drives that go up to 1bg on one disc.

Well, I have an MD player. That doubles as an MD burner, basicaly get a MD player, and plug it into a USB port.

I've got a ZIP drive on my old computer upstairs, and my Hi-MD player does double up as a burner. I just think it'd be kinda cool and stylish to have an internal MD drive.

Try a search on Sony for MiniDisc Drive. It might be in an obsolete section. Panasonic provide a section for older technology.

It would be quite stylish to have one. I never liked those ZipDrives. ReWriteable CDs are really what are used over diskettes now.

hmm i hate cd-r/rw they take too long to burn/erase and only provide 700mb
so that is why i got an external 160gb usb2.0 8mb cache 7200 rpm(i'll get to it eventually)... hdd
and for any transfers where i just need a few mb and im too lazy to completely unplug evrything i will just put it on my cameras sandisk(128mb)
that little jewl saved me at leats 30 burns when i was transfering stuff from my moms pc to mine(since i didnt have a logn enough network cord to reach my pc i had to use my moms for inet)
and i use it as a tiny backup also(i keep all of my current sourcecode on it)

I did that for about 3 hours! lol.

Not quite what you are after as it is an External USB. I only had a quick look though.

Brother has a Panasonic CD-R/W+. It can write up to 800MB CD-RW Discs. They have to be special ordered from TDK or Maxell I think.
The discs he buys it can write an entire disc in under 1 minute, it eases them in around the same time.

He also bought me a USB Drive for University, which can hold 1GB. It transfers at something like 150Mb per second, and recognised by both Fedora, Suse and Windows XP. It is really good!

I want them to start installing BluRay at University, as we just got a Panasonic BluRay Drive from Japan. 50GB Discs, are just awesome.
