im using windows 98 and just upgraded from widnows 95(on a virtual pc btw)
and im not sure what is wrong it just keeps on wanting to install hardware and even when i try to install it and it says its installed it still will say its not installed
and it just says unknown hardware so i dont know what it could be besides maybe my network card since i would need to update the driver from 95 to 98

it will boot in safemode alright but i dont know how to fix the problem

what hardware are you trying to install?
what hardware is it looking for?

have u changed the position where the driver comes from.?

have u looked at the virtual pc hardware bios which is prolly software based, but emulating as hardware.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

ummm well i found out it isnt an actual infinet loop but it wants to install 14 unkown devices
and according to device manager i have nothing missing and have tried disabling things thru vpc like com ports and network cards so i dont know
i disabled them all now and it works fine but i would still like to know what it is cause when i delete it it gets detected again

of course it does, that's how it works..

If you disable it then itll work just fine, but the hardware you disabled won't work...

It's just looking for hardware..

Maybe cdroms and hdds, and usb and etc etc..

Could be a million different devices..

If it works and you dont need said hardware then don't worry about it.
