hi,

me and kentaree have been discussing about the possiblity of making the network public and opening it up to any game development language. we might even end up changing the network name.

i would like to hear any comments on this, please no flames.

what would the new network name be?
what game development languages might join?

if feedback is positive about this, we might get the ball rolling soon.

cheers

nothing gets done in IRC.

All that will do is suck in more helpless souls, who should be programming or like... getting dates.

I think it's a ridiculous idea. It sucks as it is. Just shut it down. What a waste of everybody's time.

It would atleast allow a connection between all the different languages instead of someone having to hop networks meaning we could easily refer others to another channel for help. And I guess it'd make our own channel more popular aswell, increasing interest in DarkBasic and other TGC products.

No spazuh it's copyrighted by tgc. Everytime someone says (or screams) LARGE everybody who heard it has to pay $0.17 1/2 to tgc for copyright infringement. Anyone who thinks this is stupid can go eat raw trout. So I'm actually making money for tgc you see. Now go pay up

A channel for PlayBasic would be cool... especially if Kevin or Empty were to pop in once in a while

You could name it Devhat. I see in many cartoons, like the Simpsons that they have hats they wear when talking about something serious.

Do not believe there should be a limitation on the languages talked about. Just make sure to cover the major ones.

BASIC, C/C++, C#, Visual Basic, Pascal, Assembly. People should be happy.

A room with super helpful people for noobies would really be awesome.

Personally, I'd also like for some channels such as linux-related (not necessarily a dev one) and maybe some other hardware related ones, cos they're always handy to have around.

Call it DevNet for obvious reasons.. Developer Network

Honestly, I think it would be a good idea to have chans for various programming languages and as ken also mentioned, for other things like linux support.

I wasn't flaming people, that was humor, although it apparently failed miserably .

I like the Devnet idea.

man oh man...

That Devhat name is cool though. Then you have a website with a picture of a hat with the words "3y3 c0d3" on it, and coronas strapped to the side too.

i think we've got a name lined up.

devhat.net?

what we'll do is setup the subdomains, then announce it properly in a week or two.

I have codercafe.com ---- that would have been a good one to use. Oh well, too late I've owned it for 7 or 8 years I think, haven't put anything on it yet.
