Just noticing the team request board is not there for me. Am I the only one who can not see it? Where did it go?

You think team request should now be posted in general area?....I wonder how this will work out, because the team request board was actually very valuable...shame its going to waste.

OMG noo! We've forgotten why it was there.. It was apollo's version of the spambox!

I demand it comes back so we don't get bombarded in the regular forums!

No, at the moment the Team Request board has been removed permanently with slim chance of return. Any team requests posted in these forums will be deleted unless we genuinely believe they will be of good use, basically, that means you can expect 99.5% of future team requests threads to be deleted on sight. Thank you.

The Team Requests board was purposely removed due to the high level of inane requests.

EDIT:

Oops, looks like Exeat beat me to the punch

People who have legit and established projects would do better to be patient and wait on the additions that we hope Rich will eventually get time to add .

The TR board was never a looker, I mean I wonder how many finished games have been produced because of that board (if any).

what would be better is if team requesters did some work and presented it on the wip thread and asked for people to help on it there. but in turn that would eb flooded with a cube on a matrix screenshot frenzy bonanza fish trousers.

Hi.

I'm looking to start a MMORPG. I have been coding in DB for 2 days and think I am good enough to attempt it.

I want someone to code the entire game for me for free and then put me in the credits. I would also like people to make all the game media for me and their only payment will be a slight mention in the credits.

Thanks.

P.S. Before my account is removed this was just a joke!

Perhaps I'm the only one who remembers... but... Do you remember what it was like before the team requests board became moderated for ALL users... Well I see this happening (the problems before the forum was locked to all) to all the boards now

But eh.. it was crap anyway, I suppose it just means the mods will have to actually delete stuff, instead of simply ignoring the spambox-er.. team request board..

As plenty of users have already suggested, if you see someone who you think will want to help with your team then why not e-mail them? Although what's to stop someone e-mailing everyone who shows their addy.

I will miss Jimmy's team request though, I wonder just how many replies it would have got.

And ofcourse you do realise this means they'll be a lot more "I've just made my own forums, they've got team requests, come and join." posts.

The very fact we still had Team Requests listed as a board (even though it was a moderated one) meant some people thought they had to form a team or something and we got the usual insane threads from people expecting the earth trying to remake Halo or EverQuest (get a grip guys, you will NEVER EVER manage that). So I removed all mention from it totally in the hope that it will, given time, fade from memory.

We never actually used to have much problem with team requests at all until the board was created. Twas a bad bad move.

Cheers,

Rich

Typical, I made a post in the team request forum for the first time ever yesterday, offering to held someone with some effects for their game. I head back there today and the whole thing is gone!

Oh well, as usual my timing sucks!

I enjoy every minute of it!

Sure--- why not put the links in your sig?

And another thing... there are lots of other forums with Team Request areas, including the other popular DBP forum. Gamedev.net also has Team Requests, and I'm sure they have a larger market to draw from, as well.

And here we find a problemo. It's probably true that very few people read the stickys on the team request board but now when someone makes a bum cheese of a team request in general talk you can't tell them to read the sticky, you've got to explain what makes a good request and what makes a bad request, after the 10th time I can see this getting a little tedious, encouraging people to flame.

I believe...erm...I know, he spammed many useless messages(30-40) in a very short period of time(5mins). Which brings on the penalty of a serious ban.

How about instead of a team request forum, have a recruitment forum where people offer their services to other peoples programs? That way people tell of skills they possess, rather than skills they hope they have...

Well, If we could get around "newbies" posting "i m teh l337 c0d3rz" then I think this would be a very good idea. But getting around that small detail could prove difficult.

At this stage there are no plans for an alternative to the team request forum so don't bother suggesting anything.

I recommend anyone who wants to recruit members for a team posts there game at the W.I.P board. That being said, your game must be a work in progess(not a storyline, or a few models). Even then, your best bet is to contact members personally via e-mail.

Yeah. Unless you're some kind of known game developing guru with a history of finished projects, you should come to them rather then them coming to you.

Are you serious? The board isn't coming back, ever, and we're not going to allow any team request threads at all. I have no clue where you got the idea that it was ever going to come back, because it isn't.

It should be that hard to remember Apolloed, you did do it after all.

Just to enforce what Exeat said, TR will never never never be coming back. Which is a good this. Games get lost with a sea of beaurocracy in that board.

I just like to start coding something, not come up with a 40-page design document before writing an uber long post detailing every bit of the game minute detail of the game only to justify asking for a modeller to help model a couple of things.

Maybe I'm just a traditionalist.

Facts are meaningless.

It was actually entertaining for me. Reading the ridiculous requests.
Some asking for 10 to 30 members,wow... I can't even get the one
modeller I know to keep pace and he lives one block away from me.
