It appears that scientists using the circular accelerator at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (http://www.cclrc.ac.uk/Activity/RAL) have discovered that parallel universe's do exist. They have managed to create viewable portals to these universe's, but have yet managed to safely transfer people or objects to these other dimensions.

According to scientist Bunny Wagg each dimension only looks vaguely familiar, resulting in many differences. For instance, in once dimension (codenames U2052), IBM makes aircraft propellant. And in another, everyone is left-handed.

Scientists say they hope to have a method of safely transporting people and goods to any chosen dimension in around 10 years.
