Saw it Thursday night, and it was great. Some action parts which might normally have been see as "over the top", looked great because of the graphical style of the picture. Really felt like I was reading a comic book. Much more so than any other comic-based movie I think.

Just basically 3 stories of crime in a comicbook like city. The first story was my favorite. The character's attitude reminded me of Hellboy. Ya know, big guy gets shot in the head and he laughs while making a joke about the blood you just got on his coat. The man likes his coats.

Is it based on an actual comic book story...or just something completely new all together?

Why do so many movies these days rely heavly on human torture scenes and wheel barols of "Oh-$hit-My-Intestines-Are-Gone" action.

Really.

What? They had more of that in the 80s! These days it's all clean PG-13 action... no fun at all.

Is the film based on the same Frank Miller comic books? They were superb, I used to run a web site dedicated to one of the characters from them - Deadly Little Miko Hope the film is as good.

Based on the comics. Guest director Quintin Tarintino. I believe the actor who plays the big criminal is the same actor who played Hellboy. This movie is very violent and actually depicts a man gettin' his junk ripped off. But I still liked it, even though it was freaky.

The comics are extremely violent too - in a real, gritty dark way, so that doesn't surprise me. I just hope it works - sometimes it fails terribly (DarkMan anyone? never a bigger piece of trash have I ever seen).

Going to see it in a little bit. From what I am hearing it does great justice to the comics, but being a fan of the comics, it better please me.

It should work - the trailers look great, and apparently Frank Miller was co-director.

I didn't know that they were making a film. I'm really looking forward to seeing it now

You'r twisted sense of entertainment sends chills down my spine.

Anyone seen that new Ring 2?

Turned out to be a comedy. Shame Ben Stiller wasen't in it.

EDIT:

Robocop was abit friendly and lame for my liking. Anyone seen Running Man? That movie was based on the concept of the humen body containing 6 gallons of strawberry jam. Geez.

I agree A Clockwork Orange is doubly great: ultra-violence and the philosophical, anti-Government side that the book was about (the way they punished him)

Just got back from Sin City...

Other then the movie theater being filled with people (there couldn't of been 1 seat left in the theater), the movie was great. 'Deadly' Little Miho kicks ass in film form.

You could tell right off the bat which scene tarentino directed (and yes it is a little Miho scene).

I still think the Marv part was the best done though. Mickey Rourke did a good job there.

Good riddence.

The part with the raindeer smashing up the car? I nearly chocked on my OhHenry bar. Very amusing movie. I must have missed the scary parts from all those bathroom breaks I didn't take.

I'll take the scary comment like a pinch of Blair witch. ie. Supposed to be super scary, but I didn't even flinch. Thats not me acting hard BTW, as I'm normally a complete girl with horror movies. Total suprise. Must admit great marketing though.

Heh, or The Exorcist. I saw it at midnight on Halloween when they un-banned it. Thought I was going to be really scared. But we just laughed and laughed. And you must admit all those mustachiod doctors puffing away on ciggies, *in* the hospital, was pretty chuckle worthy. Class. It helped that I was tanked to my eyeballs mind... Oh, and a bird threw up in the aisle. Top stuff. Think that was more to do with alcopops though...

Cheers

I checked out the movie review site.. interesting.. noticed a movie which you guys havent reviewed and which i thought was a very decent movie..

It's called Event Horizon and it's about a ship that goes missing(and actually travels farther than everyone thought).. I highly suggest if everyones in for a good horror movie(with a bit of -needed- comedy, as without it it would be a very dark movie.. to go and rent it.

Even though it's an old movie(with older graphics effects in a couple of spots), it's still a great one to watch even at the point of graphical achievements which we have today. Go rent it!

Those reindeers looked so CG for a second I thought I accidentally walked into Polar Express or something like that It just didn't make sense. At least in the first one the crazy horse made some sense.

Ahh yes... I've seen that one a few times in the theatre. I'll rent it and review it.

Oh, I though this thread was about Sin Cities, a great tv program on bravo and Ftn with Ashley Hames and Grub Smith. Not for children, but great fun for adults!

I really like Event Horizon, a very underrated horror sci-fi.

just saw it tonite..

Best movie I've seen in a long time!

Personal justice via murder! Can't beat that!

Very bloody, very comicbookish... In fact, every scene looks like it was taken straight from a comic book? I bet if you took any frame in the entire movie you could stick it in a comic book^_^

Just beautiful scenes, very good movie..

Yep, Sin City was a pretty good movie, and yes, it's a Frank Miller thing. That guy needs some therapy, but at least he made a good movie.

It was INCREDIBLY violent and bloody, it made Gladiator look like Teletubbies.
