Hi

I just found something that i think it pretty amazing.
Go and read this you self
http://www.big-boys.com/pictures/picture0935.html

Even i can read it! and the text describes why.

Do you think it is amazing that the human mind is able to do that?

No, its not amazing....

There is quite an explanation for this:

In the beginning of the internet, nerds began talking in a language they call "l337" (or something like that)...
Because kids these days grow up with computers, they will spend 30% of their time on forums reading "l337". During this period, the brains will evolve and we will only look at the:

- size of the word
- first letter of the word

Now, ofcourse this seems silly (yup, this story is in fact 99% fake ), but it's still true. BUT, the amazing part is that we WRITE stupid and not that we are able to read it.

Ok, here's a example sentence:

I am wlaknig on a raod.

<human mind>:
First word would be the subject... It's only 1 letter big so it must be " I "
Second word... 2 letters, probably "am" or "be"
Third word... " W " + 7 letters... First thing I can think of: " Walking "
Last word... 4 letters and begins with "R"... " Walking " + " Road " is possible...
Ok, it's: "I am walking on a road"

The human mind probably fills up the gaps (words you didnt read) and probably guesses the words.

Obviously there's an explination. The point isn't that it can't be explained, the point is that it's interesting the human mind can accomplish it.

As I recall, someone once showed me that if you throw a pattern into the mix, such as each word reversing the middle (EX: Tihs is a elemertxy lnog scnetnee bveilee it or not.)

Then you can no longer read it at those speeds. I'm not going to bother writing a paragraph to test it. But if anyone wants to, be my guest

Yes, yes it was. And at that time we also came to the conclusion that the rule of thumb that "Only the first and last letter have to be correct" is completely wrong, observe:

Hlleo edbroevyy, tihs is asomlt cllteempoy ubldaanree.

Not so easy anymore, is it? I think their research needs more work.

Btw, that actually says: "Hello everybody, this is almost completely unreadable"

i had trouble reading that

Quote: "Hlleo edbroevyy, tihs is asomlt cllteempoy ubldaanree."

i was able to read that really easy. I am used to seeing words misspelled because i usually type so fast that i make alot of mistakes.

i was able to read that at my normal reading speeds too.

Not entierly true. I didn't grow up on "leet" and the only time I get to read it is during Halo matches on-line when I kill newbs and hear things like
"DUDEZ WTF. UR HACKNING U NOOB."

followed by something + "You're Mama"

In the beginning of the internet? Methinks not. Maybe in the beginning of last year. Grief. Most geeky things we ever heard (circa 1991ish) was people calling themselves ZeroCool in MUD games etc. l337 is more like for kids using mobile phones so they could type faster. And even that is pretty useless once predictive text became more advanced. 21st century equivelent of fluffy dice, kappa slappa tracksuits, birds called sharon (Shaz), and putting you and your birds name across the top of the windscreen in your Capri. Tw*ts... Or for the more geeky amongst us, talking in Hex or Binary.... there were always some (normally being picked on by the chess team)...

Cheers

Read through the following list out loud but DO NOT say what the words spell, instead say the colour the word is written in.

i concurr leet speak evolved from mobiles and leet was no where seen when the first internet connections were established, maybe 10 years after the main base of public people go it.
the fact when every joe shmoe got it in his home is when it was diluted.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself
