I don't mean for writing games, I mean the windows resolution you are running as set in the control panel? I'm trying to find out what percentage of DBPro users are still running less than 1024x768. Cheers.

p.s. I'm running 1024x768

1152 x 900.

Not too small for my monitor, but not too blocky.

Good to see there's a fair few with 1152. Haven't seen too many of the x900 variant (x864 on my machine looks distorted).

1024x768 (my laptop card can do up to 1600x1200 but neither the inbuilt screen nor my crt screen can )

I don't see why people think that 133b is spelt 1337?!

Depends. Main network PC's are 1600x1200 (20.1" LCD and 19" CRT), and main laptop is 1920x1200. Work PC was just upgraded (bit more like it with 3Ghz now) but still have relatively annoying 1280x800 resolution thanks to cheapos. It is a black PC though, so not all bad.

Only use lower than 1280x800 for testing basically.

Cheers

Fantastic response guys - thanks! (Wow - 6 mods too, I am honoured!) This is really useful to know for working with BlueGUI, where the size of the gadgets you make are affected by the desktop resolution, not the directx resolution, as set from within DBP.

In the project I'm working on, at 800x600 its a real squash fitting the gadgets onto the screen, but knowing that so few people are running that low a resolution, I'm not so worried anymore.

Linux 1024 x768

1024 x 768

I think 1024 x 768 is gonna be the new minimum, most people have a reasonably new PC with a TFT screen (all mine are) or a good quality crt monitor, and I haven`t seen a TFT lower than 1024 x 768 resolution and anyone with CRT is usualy using them because of their job/main hobby (video editing, hardcore gamer etc), so they have a good quality display, only kids with passed on computers from grandparents etc are gonna be on 800 x 600 imo (like the one I just refurbished for my workmates grandson ...Packard Bell executive multimedia 800 x 600 crt and 120mhz pentium, 32mb ram).

Monitor 1 - 1280x1024 (17" screen)
Monitor 2 - 1024x768 (when i occasionally hook up my second monitor, for intense coding, but its only a 15")

Hoping to update to one of those new Samsung 19" 8ms response time screens soon.

I'm on 1024x768
Using a nice LG FlatScreen CRT 17" - any higher resolution just looks too small, and moving the mouse from one corner to the other seem impractical to me

If I had a bigger monitor, however, I would up the resolution, definatly

Jess.

Nah, just use mouse accelerators.

Although it doesn't matter what size you have, after a while you start wishing 40 inch LCD TVs would hurry up and get more decent resolutions. Like those nice large 1920x1200 panels (ie. 40 inch ones) that are do out this year apparently. Nice....

Cheers

But the problem with accelerating the mouse ( I've done this, btw ), is that you then lose accuracy.
I do alot of doodling, and general pixel art work, and without that acuracy, things get difficult very quickly!

Not if you have a good driver. Most these days should increase the accuracy as you slow down. So moving slowly should be exactly the same as before. Although to tell the truth I've used drivers that do this really well, and others that don't really work.

Cheers

Yeah, I'm now tempted by an array of 4 of my monitors on one PC. Slightly expensive, but it would give an overall size of 40.2 inch diagonal screen with an overall resolution of 3200x2400. Gibber. My only justification is that I can't get *all* of my forms and code open at once at an acceptable size in my current visual studio project. But I need to spend money on annoying things like food... drat...

Cheers
