We have a sega saturn... but not the video cable because something happened to it. If the CD isn't a valid game disc then it'll just stay on the CD player until you put one in. We have quite a few sega saturn games, and I would like to play them, but I can't find anywhere to get a video cable for it.

Sometimes you just need to clean it and others you just need to try over and over again.

Yeah thats probably it, a lens problem. That would explain why its not recognising CDs properly.

hmm, the access light keeps flashing. anything in the manual about that?

i'm currently going through all the games to see if they work. since i picked them up at various places, i might have to put it down to a console problem.

cheers

i think you need to have the game cd in before you turn on the console.

I think that means the disk can't be read

hmm

i've tested 10 games, from various places all dont work. so im guessing its a cd drive problem.
and i've cleaned the cd lens to no avail.

contacting the seller. that 100% feedback wont be 100% if the seller avoids my question

The same exact thing happens with my Saturn. I bought it off a friend and it has never worked with any of the 5 games I have

When you put a saturn disc in the machine 'after' switching it on, you have to select the button in the top left. That will boot the game. Barring that, hit the reset button or put the disc into the console before switching it on!

This is because the saturn never had an auto-load feature in the cd player section.

Lens might need cleaning as well.

Personally, and I'm not suggesting anyone else do this, I put a drop of lens cleaning alcohol on the lens itself (let a small drip land right on the lens, BE CAREFULL!!!) and let it stand for 5 seconds, then 2 wipes with a cotton bud/q-tip in either direction and let it dry naturally. Carbonised oxygen forms on the CD lens, which is invisible, and takes a lot of disolving, that's why those CD's with the little brushes are useless for anything but dust.

I liked my Saturn, it's the best console for the original Tomb Raider, despite the very decent PSX version.

I remember having to play with the power levels to the motor that spun the disk because it was funky because it was old, maybe your have somewhat of the same problem, also check to see that on the bottom there is one or more metal plates to funnel heat out of the console.
