Thats what it looks like. I stopped taking screenies a bit ago though. I am fairly disapointed in it. I was hoping they were going to do a bit more with it, make it a bit faster paced for old times sakes. Seems all they did was Throw in more enemies, and a Grabber (their answer to the grav gun, this thing can throw small enemies, boxes, and redirect fireballs.)

I'll still play through it, cause I spent a lot of time reinstalling doom and making room on my full HD for it, so I won't waste it

I wanna see the Grabber in action.. probably won't buy the add-on
All I've seen of it is the iddev.net SDK 2 version, which was lacking compared to what Doom3 had in physics.

An uber compressed movie of the grabber in action. Didn't wanna waste too much space, so I compressed it to the Mizax! It starts off dark, but, there is a little bit of light in it... not too much, but its there.

Heh... your as bad as my bro at the game. He was playing it the other night while I was trying to get further in .hack// (buying all 4 of them at once seemed like a good idea at the time lol)

Constantly have to remind him to reload, sweep an area with the flashlight, throw grenades when there are larger groups, etc..
Would've been nice if you could find a better illuminated area, cause it comes out almost pitch black this end.

What did you use to record that video, was expecting a 30sec FRAPS record. Reminds me I have to buy that at the end of the month.

Your using an X800 aren't you?
Did you know if you go in to the Doomcfg.cfg, and alter the downsize limits from 256/256/64 to 512/512/256 you get FAR better quality.

I'd show you but Doom 1.1 has a problem with TurboCache and HyperMemory, it seems to mess up the rendering. The mapping looks awesome though with it.

I'll try to get the settings sorted to post in a lil while, cause it really does make a world of difference to the game quality without alot of slow down (provided you have enough VRAM).

More darkness - if you wanted to play games in the dark, all you should need to do is switch off the light.

I wasn't trying to play... I was trying to use teh grabber

I'm actually on a 9600xt, and depending on what background processes I am running, I either have it at 1024x768 high or medium.

Used Fraps, it lets you go past 30 seconds if you have it registered (which my brother did a long time ago, so I just use his version).

I'll make a better one later... if i can find an illuminated area (its been oh so long )

It's pretty lame that the best they can do is throw in a sub-par clone of Half-Life 2's gravity gun far as I'm concerned-- they say it isn't of course, but it's pretty damn obvious. Of course it's not id to blame this time...

Maybe Quake 4 will deliver the goods

Showed Rob the Gamespy review of this on Monday. Think he liked what he read. A copy arrived today in the mail.

Do not think it was expected so early because he did not tell me to leave it.

I recall reading somewhere that the grabber was developed for the original. Was taken out because it made it too easy.

It is obvious many people will claim it is a cheap knock-off. If what was said in the interview was true, I can not see how it would be.

It was originally planned for the original-- but that was after the gravity gun was announced and demonstrated in Half-Life 2

By the way, Eric, how can a single shotgun possibly be that much fun? How can it beat the Ripper in UT, or the Gravity Gun (funnest thing in a FPS ever) in HL2 ?

No, I come home to find out he's been using my machine again and opening my mail without permission. So I wasn't in a particularly good mood, especially after talking to PR Executives half the damn day.

Not that it's done him any good. For some reason Patch 1.2, which is required fails to install. While I've been able to trick the game in to running using 1.1, without pak006.pk4 the game fails to find what it requires for something and forces back to the main menu.

Annoyingly because the patch isn't public release yet (which is just plain stupid considering it is REQUIRED for use of the expansion) there isn't exactly an abundance of people who have it.

Right-- you own the game but you just happen to need all the files required to upgrade a standard Doom 3 installation to the expansion pack. I've deleted your request and be glad you didn't get a newbie slap or ban for that too. Don't request warez on this forum.

<Edit: Second thoughts, I will newbie slap you. There simply isn't any excuse >

Activision Support Examples

I am NOT the only person who is having trouble installing it, and as I said above. All Activision say to do is 'reinstall' but THAT DON'T FLUFFING WORK!

What I was asking for is the DOOM 3 GAME PATCH, and not any files for Resurrection of Evil itself. As far as I'm aware that installed just fine, it's just this sodding unreleased patch I need to run the game..

I'm sorry but I spend £40 importing a game, that I can't even run because the patch keeps deleting the executable data because it doesn't actually install any files.

I AM NOT THE ONLY USER TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM, and Activisions help doesn't work.. They suggest altering the Registration version then rerunning the patch. (and in the caseof 1.1 downloading it again which I would love to do IF IT WAS RELEASED!!) ... but that option doesn't work becuase it comes up with 'This patch has already been installed on your system'.

When it hasn't!

It isn't all of the core game files, it is just the files that would be patched. And actually if this WAS an illegal warez version then using the OFFICIAL patch would just screw up any cracks I was using or such wouldn't it?

or did that not occur to you?

I was just saying that if you WERE to have a WAREZ version of the original Doom 3 (oxymoron 'original doom 3' ) that you could apply the 1.2 patch and ROE without any problems.

Bleh

Fine ban me (again?).. not like I particularly care.
I'm a little sick of threats, abuse your powers and click the ban.

If you'd like an 'official' reason to do it I can give it to you.
I've always masked my cursing on the forums in the mannor I did above, and I will continue to... whether there is a curse filter or not. If you don't like it then ban my <mod edit: naughty pantoloons>

Banning for excessive, continued evasion of the swear filter is usage, not abusage, of power. Not only that but you've been warned in the past. It's a week this time.

Eric: warning goes here! I'm editing yours too

Now maybe we can get back to Doom 3 Expansion

How about that there CTF?

CTF, haven't tried any multiplayer. But considering how bad the unexpanded versions multiplayer ran on my system, I probably won't try for a while.
