Very interesting. Hopefully, one day they will be able to increase the "dot pitch" of the eyes, possibly having millions of electrodes instead of only a hundred.

The thing is, 100 pixels isn't much and, if you wear glasses, people think your sight is perfect (I would know) ) so you wouldn't be getting that much of an improvement, surely?

100... thats 10x10. Not exactly very big but its a start. Just wait till it gets to 320x240, then they can play games on it.

But seriously, its a good development and very interesting indeed.

Yes, very interesting indeed. Surely it'll improve over time, just need to get the fundamentals down and working like anything else.

Definately a great start...i mean this is me at 10x10 pixels (zoom 25 times)


and personaly i think its an improvement !

really though 10x10 is so much better than nothing, joking aside you can almost make out my face in the pic above...sorta.
Just looking foreward to see how far they can go...a few years back a guy had a big set of goggles with a 1 inch plug in the back of his head to see a few dots !

You can sense light, which is useful. What I mean is, with 10x10 its not exactly easy to make anything out, and it'll be like that until they make higher resolutions. I do agree its better than nothing though, and its definatly a great start

Let's just hope they don't get freaked out by the concept of sight, especially when all they're seeing is a bunch of big blocks. Actually, wasn't there a movie about a blind guy getting his sight back through surgery and he couldn't adapt to depth and perspective. I wonder if that'd happen in real life...

Actually that's based on fact. If you gain sight later in life (I think after 10 years or so), you will never be able to judge distances properly. Apparently they will see small mountains right in front of them while everyone else will see large mountains that are small but far away.
