i have checked every 2d animation post in these forums, and figured out absolutley nothing about how to animate a sprite so that it will appear as if the character is walking. If no one minds giving me a dumbed-down explanation on how to do this then it will be much appreciated.

Go to the post by Dextro on how to make a 2D platformer. I have several messages posted there describing possible methods to the madness. I will be posting my creation of a multi-level 2D game hopefully on a regular basis (time permitting).

for movement it would be something like
if leftkey()=1 then xpos=xpos-1
xpos being your sprites position

Do you mean like when a key is pressed say the left key, The body turns left and starts to move?

If you would read carefully in my post about 2D Platformers, I said I wrote the initial code originally in DBC. I just ported the code to DBPro with very little changes. This code has been actually implimented in my game so far. You can use, adapt, and modify it all you want.

The sprite moves right, left, jumps, slides, looks up and idles. All this complete with animation. Just Look at the first couple of messages I did and you will see.
